A2A Simulations Update 02/03/09 - Stangs and Cubs

Post by Lewis - A2A »

Wings of POWER 3: P51 Early and Late Models in development
A2A Simulations is currently developing brand new Wings of POWER 3, early and late model P51 Mustangs including the A36 model.
During development of the new Mustangs, we will be releasing a free update for existing Wings of POWER II: P51D Mustang owners which will not just give them a native FSX model, but an external model built from the ground up. Like our Wings of POWER 3: P47 Razorback, existing Wings of POWER II: P51D owners will also receive an additional price break when we launch the Wings of POWER 3: P51 Mustang. This new Mustang from A2A Simulations is receiving down-to-the-rivet attention, including Accu-Sim modeling.

Here are some first shots of the model in progress:

Woohoo! They are both looking great!

I've been checking in everyday hoping for some news. Late last week I was having trouble deciding between your Spitfire and Mustang. I ended up buying the Spit, figuring the AccuSim P-51 was coming soonish. I really like the look so far.

Neat video for the Cub, it looks like it will be fun to fly. They'll be ready tomorrow, right? LoL, just kidding. Keep up the great work A2A.

Tell you what, I have Flight Replicas J-3, but you can put me down for that one too. I just love a good GA. Now that Kevin Lemanski and LIC are no more, how about a dedicated FSX native Aeronca Champ too. I can bet you'll have a top shelf seller. If you have anyone in Eastern Virginia, I can arrange a flight and a sound recording.

Hello,
Stumbled upon this website and wanted to show my support for your new J3 PIPER CUB model! I'm in my 20s and currently training for a pilot license using the J3 Cub as my trainer. I'M HAVING A BLAST. I am supposed to solo any day now. Here are some current pic (first pic shows IFR conditions...big no no when flying in these planes!).

Those are excellent pictures skunker. The Piper Cub is a great choice.
Here from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piper_J-3
Look at the price when new.LoL.
Even with 2009 inflated prices only if new aircraft were that inexpensive.
It would be tempting to build an aircraft using a old reliable 1970's VW Beetle engine.

Skunker,

You could not have chosen a better aircraft to train on. While the later Cessnas and Pipers are great aircraft, they are more detached than the cub. J3 Cub Manual author, Mitchell Glicksman said the other day "while the cub is an easy aircaft to fly, it's not easy to fly it well."

The first thing I noticed with the cub was it was born to fly. It just seems to be in no hurry to get down.

I also like the throttle on the left and stick on the floor arrangement. However, there will be an adjustment with later aircraft to left hand on yoke and right hand on throttle. If you have any piper warriors or Cessna 152 / 172s around, I would have your instructor take you up in those too.

BTW, we are building the aircraft with these long time Cub pilots, including the flight modeling being programmed by a veteran cub pilot who still flies one today. I look forward to you flying the cub just being fresh out of training.

Scott.

I am completely OD'd on good news! I still love my old Mustang and fly it more than anything else (except maybe your Spitfire). The interim FSX Mustang will be a treat on its own, but a WOP3 Accusim version coming too? I'm speechless - THIS is the real Aeroplane Heaven!

When I first came to the US, my room-mate's father took me up in a small aircraft. We flew low over the Epcot dome when they were still building it. I didn't know anything about GA at the time, but I remembered the shape of the side window and the fact he had it open as we were flying. It was only decades later I realized it was a cub!

Looking forward to this very much.

Hey guys, as it turns out, I just soloed today in the Piper Cub! Took me 12hrs to do it...and I had no flying experience other than that. I think i could've done it with even less hours, but had some trouble lining up the nose with the runway centerline since my instructor's fat head was blocking the view. Now that the seat was empty on my solo flight, it was MUCH easier to land the Cub and everything clicked into place. Anyways, some simple pics:
