P-47D-16-RE "Dallas Blonde"

Post by Epsillon »

Wings of Power P-47D-16-RE "Dallas Blonde" ,#81, flown by Lt Donald Kearns, 319th FS, 325th FG.
This Thunderbolt was unusal in that it also carried the Group checkerboard on the engine cowling flaps.

Hi Epsillon,

Another nice one!

Would you be interested in doing a P47M? I spent the last hour or so scratching around the internet and was shocked at how little info there is, much less color photos. Probably explains why only 2 skins were included with the package in the first place. See the 2 pics below. I have half dozen more from a few other angles if you are interested. Can post them here or e-mail them, Just let me know.
Thanks, John

Could anyone add this one to their list? It's at our local Lone Star Flight Museum. http://www.lsfm.org/

Hi Phil,

This one is very difficult to make because the cowling flaps on the WoP P-47 are very hard to skin.
For example, look at the checkerwork on the Dallas Blonde and look at my job to obtain this result:

Funny,isn't it ?

So i will give a look at the Tarheel Hal but don't be too optimist... :?

I'll give you some news in a few days.

Thanks Stephan. I see what you mean.
If you can't do it, I don't imagine anyone can. Thanks for trying.

I love all of your repaints.

I have some pictures from in the cockpit at last years airshow of Tarheel. I know some of the CAF here in Houston and they are all a bunch of good guys.

Looking great, I think I have a new favorite P-47. I've seen Lone Star's Tarheel Hal many times, and I always find it fun to fly the FS versions of planes I have actually seen.

Epsillon, you do great work. Thanks for all your efforts. I'm loking forward to this one.

If anyone really wants to see the real thing, get the P-47 DVD from the Roaring Glory series. Tarheel Hal is the P-47 taken for the flgiht in the DVD. I got mine off eBay.
