Hi Guys,
Travelled to a distant town to install a gift BoB WoV on my Mates pc...
as you do
Looks like his nice new pc is needing a few things.
Install went swimmingly until trying instant action for the first time...
box reported missing video codec...
subsequent restarts result in no start
Had a wee search here no luck
what do we need please ?
got the wee green light glowing expectantly on the MSSWFF
Cheers from NZ
Pete

We need more info:
What happens?
Please give a DXDIAG
Did you disable the anti virus? Probably its best to unconnect the internet for this.

Re: Help please , Codec needed then ctd (new install)
Thankyou !
Win XP sp3 on core duo with 8600series card on DX9 acording to dxdiag
haven't patched WoV yet
should I get DX10 ?
Loaded sim, set up joystick,
set resolution to a couple of bigger res that it didn't like and got the unsupported resolution report.
Got into first screen , instant action brought 'need codec' box, tried to go past that and got ctd
subsequent attempt gets ctd on attempting menu choice
thanks Mate !

I think you are crashing in the video's:
GO to Options->Adv-> game
Check the "Skip in Game videos" box
Your PC should be super.
Do not get with DirectC10, you should be OK with DirectX9c.
Did you install 2.09?
Report back on this thread.
If you don't see MOVIES in the user menus, you may need to update your codecs (Note this is an old link but should still work):
