fuel, even if cut off, starts to flow in a dive

Post by Jarek »

Abnormal procedures, but anyway something that I found suspicious:
- climb to some safe altitude, like 7000
- mixture = cutoff, fuel selector = off
- wait until combustion stops
- let the plane to slow down to 60kts, keep shallow dive to maintain this speed

Observations:
- Now initiate deep dive, so speed will start to increase to like 100 -> now you can hear that engine starts to fire (?)
- Prop continues to turn at relatively high speed, at low IAS, maintains around 600 rpm. Prop stops only below 40, it looks like internal resistance is minimal.
