Bonanza slow to start
I follow the checklist starting procedure, but my VBonanza is always very slow to start. I have to crank for quite awhile and it never starts right away. After several seconds of cranking the starter, I turn it off and wait a few seconds (fearful the battery will run down), then I start cranking again, and after many more seconds it finally starts. I usually have to open the throttle quite a bit, and when it fires and starts, I quickly pull the throttle back to avoid damaging the engine. Is this normal that it should be so slow to start?

Sounds like you’re over priming. What’s the weather conditions where you’re trying to start the engine?
So maybe try to cut the fuel pump when the fuel flow gauge hits the green arc. That should be sufficient priming.

It's easy to over prime if you run the pump too long and it DOES like more throttle. Mine starts easily between 20 and 25% throttle.
