Re: 25 ROP
For the longest time I've been flying 20° ROP at both 2500 rpm and 2400 rpm I have yet to try 25 ROP at 2300 rpm

Re: 25 ROP
Greg,
have you tried Lean of peak settings? you'll get more power hence a higher speed and this will result in not much range panelty. 25 ROP sounds pretty close to an engine cut and if your cylinders are old and compression becomes different between the cylinders you'll quite quickly reach a point where the engine really loses power for little benefits.

In fact, getting lean of peak loses as much as 10 % of power in comparison to just rich of peak settings, however, will result in best range. As you mention "engine cut", I think you are mixing lean and rich here. Anyways, being 25 degrees lean of peak is nowhere near of cutting the engine, being 25 degrees rich of peak even less so, obviously.MarcE wrote: ↑05 Sep 2020, 08:19 Greg,

Re: 25 ROP
I think it is around where the the A2A Bonanza starts coughing. The combustion becomes impossible probably somewhere at around 100...150 degrees lean of peak I'd guess, but by that time the engine has lost very much of its power, and the specific fuel consumption has come up from the peak efficiency. Not many engines run smoothly all the way to the flameout.

Akar that's why I like ROP either 20ROP or 25 to 26ROP I have been able to do 12 and 13LOP

Re: 25 ROP
aaaahhh oups yes... totally mixed up the sides of the curve lol... absolutely vice versa... 25ROP is about max power I'm sorry lol... I saw a curve in my mind's eye and mistook left lean and right rich instead of left rich and right lean... that's when you write in a forum when you're tired lol... I probably thought of rich = hot or so.. Greg actuall did exactly what I suggested and I saw him doing the opposite lol, thanks for paying attention EsaAKar wrote: ↑05 Sep 2020, 09:19In fact, getting lean of peak loses as much as 10 % of power in comparison to just rich of peak settings, however, will result in best range. Edit: again... he DID what I WANTED to suggest but as my mind was twisted it came out totally mixed up... xD
