22lbs Ballast

Post by simonflight »

Hi Guys,

On the side of the front cockpit there is a note that 22lbs of ballast must be carried when solo flying.

Should I be loading a very light heidi in the rear seat or is it taken care of automatically ?

Thanks and regards
Simon

Hi Simon,

I just add the ballast via the baggage hold. I don't think the rear seat passenger's weight can be reduced that much.

Cheers,

Also it would be hard to find someone in RL weighing 22lbs for every flight

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah Heidi will only drop down to 100lbs and I guess that as there is no alternative rear seat loading for a parachute Ill assume its taken care of automatically.

It might be a step to far to have to load ballast on every solo flight but would be sort of interesting to experience the difference.

Regards
Simon

Well you could go with Nick's suggestion and put the 22lbs into the baggage compartment.

Well usually the baggage compartment is loaded up with some support items. ie extra oil, cleaning supplies, chocks, tie-downs ect... usually that all adds up to the 22lbs needed.
