I looked both in the forums as well as elsewhere for help with this issue; I am running Prepar3d v4.3 Professional, Windows 10 ... 32gb RAM, Nvidia 980M GPU, 1tb SSD. XOTICPC GT72S 6QE laptop.

I had installed A2A T-6 Texan after repurchasing for Prepar3d; I previously bought the T6 for FSX (non-Steam). Unfortunately only the stock repaints/textures are displayed when Prepar3d starts up. I have confirmed that the repaints are in the A2A folder and added the appropriate comments to the aircraft.cfg file, exactly as I did with the FSX install, prior.

But still no joy. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Accufeel for Prepar3d and the Texan; they are installed within the Prepar3d main folder. I did this after I was unsuccessful in getting the repaints to show up when installed into the A2A user/documents folder.

Any ideas? I miss the awesome repaints done by the community and I am sure that this issue is simply something I am doing wrong; just not sure what!

Any help is appreciated!

Best, Jack

Hi Jack - welcome to the forums and thanks for the detailed info.

If I understand correctly, you've downloaded some third-party paint schemes but they're not showing correctly.

Perhaps the simplest thing to check in P3Dv4 is that the "show only favorites" box isn't highlighted in the "select vehicle" menu.

If not, it's likely that a simple typo or formatting error in the aircraft.cfg is the culprit. If you can paste the contents of your edited aircraft.cfg (or the top section that you edited anyway) we may be able to find any issue.

One other thing I'd recommend is that you don't install the T-6 (or other A2A aircraft) within the Prepar3D main folder. Doing this won't resolve any issues you're experiencing, but it will make life a bit harder when it comes to updating the base sim platform.

Thanks,
Nick

Nick, thanks. I will uninstall and reinstall to the default A2A folder in the documents folder and then reattempt installing the repaints. These are third-party repaints from the various forums. And 'favorites' box is unchecked, I like seeing all of my airplanes :)

I'll post the aircraft.cfg when I get back to the other computer. Thanks for the assist!

Best, Jack

Nick,

below is my repaints-related file from my aircraft.cfg. One thing I noticed that in the A2A folder, I have the following folders:

-A2A (which contains a folder T6, containing a "tools" folder, A2A.ico, pilot's manual, etc.);
-A2A_T6_Texan (which contains the usual folders; model, panel, sound, textures, aircraft.cfg, etc.);
-Cessna172;
-Comanche250;
-Effects;
-Fonts;
-Gauges;
-L049;
-Scripts;
-SimObjects (which contains "Airplanes" folder which contains "A2A_T6_Texan" folder which contains the exact same folders/items as the folder of the same name above ... and
- the "add-on.xml"

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the info. Going by your description of the folder structure, something seems to have gone awry with your installation. In the "A2A" folder you should only have the following directories...

  • A2A
  • Effects
  • Fonts
  • Gauges
  • Scripts
  • SimObjects

...Along with the add-on.xml.

To try and clear this up, please confirm if you have the latest versions of the P3Dv4 A2A installers. These were released in May of this year, so if you downloaded before then, you'll have older versions. If you're using the new installers, each Accu-Sim aircraft will show the A2A logo, publisher as "A2A Simulations Inc." and product version number in the Windows "apps & features" window.

Thanks,
Nick

P.S. Your aircraft.cfg extract seems okay, but note that the repaints are listed under "North American" in the P3D UI, whereas the default paint schemes will show under "A2A North American".

Nick, uninstalled/reinstalled and checked the new folder ... everything looks like you said it should. Fired up P3D and we're back in business. Thanks for the assist!
