Yes, you will want to wait for your installers to get the proper v3 files and changes.

How will this affect a/c like the Accusim B17 and Accusim P-51? Are there new installers for these also?

I'm assuming we need to run the installers and then the updater. Correct?

Thanx,

Vic

Hi Vic.

I haven't tried them myself yet in V3 but I would assume no new installers. The B-17 and P-51 are FSX only so you will have to install in the usual way and hope they are compatible.

Hi Steve -

OK, installed the Accusim Cub, P-51 and B17. Ran the updater and it recognized the install and did it's thing. Had to put a dummy FSX.EXE file in the P3D folder for the Cub and B17 - all others accepted my browse to the P3D3 folder.

@LEWIS - As a FWIW - I tried to point the updated Cherokee & Comanche installer to my Addon Aircraft folder outside the P3D3 folder. Installation said it failed during the DirectX version check. There were several new folders in the drive root - Addon AircraftA2A, Addon AircraftGauges, Addon AircraftEffects, Addon AircraftSimobjects. I *think* it was trying to do what I wanted but I was surprised that it didn't put these *IN* the Addon Aircraft folder which already had Effects, SimObjects & Gauges.

IAC, I deleted the folders and for now just put them in the P3D3 folder as before.

Perhaps down the road, an automated method to move these outside of main P3D3 folder?

Umm... you don't have anything better to do, right? :)

Vic

Yes, though Lockheed introduced the ability to install outside of the main root it is not a requirement and given the work required to move software its not something we, and it looks like the majority of developers will be doing at present.

For the none P3D native simulations, no updated installers etc will be available as these are produced for and native too FSX.

Hi Lewis

Will you conform to the new file structures in the future as it seems to make a lot of sense to install outside the core program so addons do not have to be reinstalled with a P3D V3 future update?

Hello,

inline with other developers we will not be changing the file structure as its not a requirement. This ultimately enables us to provide you a free update for v3 with some simple tweaks rather than a complete re-design and a new professional simulation for a new platform similar to how Lockheed charge for the new version.

Hi Lewis

Understand, but I for one would be willing to pay for a feature that allowed me to update P3D without installing all addons again. You are probably correct that most developers will that the easy way and all the work LM did to help with update and reinstalls will be for naught.

Thanks
Terry

Hello Terry,

the work is still a work in progress so moving it now could result in moving it again in the future. This is why its a Lockheed suggestion and not a requirement. Whilst you would be happy to pay I think its safe to say you are in the minority of those who understand the nature of the professional software and would be OK paying for the updated changes.

Lockheed have the same ability as Microsoft and now Dovetail/Steam to update the platform without affecting the added files.

thanks,
Lewis

Hi Lewis

Yep I am probably in the minority. I just think that until we move to a more realistic mode of charging for periodic major revisions, we will not move forward as fast as we could. I applaud LM for saying hey this is a much better product so we are charging for it. I know that is harder for smaller developers to do, but it beats the boneheaded response of a Milviz for example that said this costs us money so we aren't going to update for several months!

Thanks
Terry

Lewis - A2A wrote:New installers are out now, A2A Store users can log into your account to download and third party vendor customers should be able to do similar at there stores soon as Ive sent out the installers to the stores for updating.

The Accu-sim updater itself has also been updated so remember to run that too!

thanks,
Lewis
Have the brilliant Comanche fsx variety. Need the P3D V3 version but FltSimStore download still shows only v1 & v2, is this just a typo?
Dont want to purchase only to find its not compatable
