182 autopilot in NAV flys the plane 180 degrees.

Post by B-17 Flier »

Hi, second day with the 182 installed in a fresh copy of P3D V5.

As I type this I’m making a flight from 11S Seiku to S18. When I use the autopilot it will guide the plane to flow the line in the GTN, and when I have the plane tracking the magenta line perfectly, and yes, I’m in GPS mode, the plane will always turn around and fly 180 degrees away. It’s does not behave like this in 4.5 because I jus did the same flight as a test.

Hi Paul,

Have you installed the latest version of the RXP GTN?

If so, could you attach a screenshot or two showing how the GTN and cockpit are set up in the situation you describe?

Thanks,
Nick

Yes, latest version.
The Cherokee works fine with the same route.
But the Bonanza doesn’t, it behaves the same as the 182.
Going to check the Comanche next.
I can send shots Dan but you have to trust me on this, I’[m an avionics tech in real life. I know these backwards and forwards. And besides, it works in 4.5. But, I will post some shots.

Thanks for the screenshots B-17 Flier. I just (re)installed the GTN 750 to my P3Dv5 HF2 installation and autopilot tracking in GPS CDI mode seems to be working fine. Have you made any changes to the RXP settings? Here's how they look by default.

Hi Nick, and thanks. What's odd is the two "Connect..." which are unticked in your screenshot are ticked in mine. And it's the same in 4.5, all ticked. Yet 4.5 follows A/P perfectly and V5 does not. I made several test flights with all four planes in V5 vs V4.5 and for some reason three out of four in V5 the autopilot doesn't work but all four work perfectly in 4.5.

I know for sure that an update to the RXP gauges was needed to enable autopilot tracking in P3Dv5, so it might be worth making absolutely sure that you have the latest version of the RXP GTN installed if the autopilot tracking is not working. RXP update and improve their software frequently, and the latest update was posted on 23 June by the looks of it.

However, it sounds like the "RealityXP.GTN.ini" for the V35B has indeed been modified on your system so it might be worth trying with a fresh copy of the file.

Thanks,

Thanks Nick, I will check right now to see if this is the latest version, what else can it be if it works for you?

Updating now Nick but it remains to be seen if it works. But one question, if the version I have installed is the problem, then why does it control the A/P in the Cherokee in V5 but not the three other planes?

That did it Nick. They work perfectly now with A/P. Thanks for your help.
