repeating error

Post by mike4370 »

I keep getting this error message in my event viewer which causes P3D to crash. i have tried to find an answer to the g2d.dll error and i think it has something to do with the NVIDIA driver. i have the latest driver installed. This first error happened twice in a row when i was about 2 miles north of BTG VOR and i went to settings to turn on traffic, so i was able to reproduce the error. I just installed ORBX WA79 and was flying from there to 7S3. I'll drop ORBX a line aobut this g2d.dll error also and see if they might know about it.

Hi Lewis I'm running p3d v3.2. my graphics card is gtx 980 and I installed the latest driver yesterday, but I have been getting the g2d.dll crash and the C182.dll error even before the latest driver install. the T-6 installed and runs perfectly btw. all my other A2A fleet runs fine too, I'm just getting this error in my event viewer every so often and I don't know why or how to stop it.

No, i dont have any GPS add ons. my default flight is the 182 at KHPN. (I probably should load P3D using the P3D default flight) I have not tried the default scenery. i have FTX global, vector, three FTX regions and several FTX airports.

Hello,

yes please make sure your default flight is a default aircraft, this was good practice for FSX but for P3D its almost a must otherwise all manner of errors can occur, with the latest P3Dv3 this is really important to make sure your default flight is pretty standard and not using any complicated third party aircraft.

Ok, I'll do that. could that be a possible cause of the C182.dll unloaded error?

can the default flight be any of the P3D pre-installed (as long as its not a flight pre loaded with a complex add on aricraft) flights or should it be a specific one?

Hi Lewis, i set the default flight to the P3D preinstalled default, I think that might have been the reason for the C182.dll unloaded error. now to figure out the g2d.dll crash.

The g2d crash can be a nightmere to solve unfortunatly so certainly have a google for the error + keywords P3D.

Heres something from Avsim;

"According to page 12, AVSIM CTD Guide:

G2D.dll - The g2d.dll is indicated as the faulting module in the crash report. This module handles plain text messages, like the frame rate counter and those other plain text messages you see periodically while running P3D and the plain text words in the P3D Menu, like the words Options, View, etc. There may be something corrupted in your dll.xml which loads menu items. It has been fixed by rebuilding the P3D.cfg (deleting or renaming the P3D.cfg and then restarting P3D). Some others have fixed this problem by uninstalling/reinstalling the video card drivers or going back to a previous version."

Thanks for the tip Lewis

By starting P3dv3.2 with a default aircraft has eliminated the error!
