Spot on windshield

Post by vangyver »

I have a spot on the windshield with a slight angle virtual cockpit view. Not sure what file to check that might be causing the problem. First picture is very large and second one in a cropped view so you can see the spot.
Large Picture spot on center line.
Spot very noticeable when flying against blue sky.

No repaints. FSX and Prepar3d. Both FSX and Prepar3d have same spot.

I figured I would start over sense my wife bought me the A2A Cherokee almost 10 years ago. I like it so much and now with my real cockpit fuselage I decided to uninstall FSX and stick with prepar3dV3. Never had any problems with Prepar3d so I see no need to update it, but I also decided to purchase the newer version from A2A and install it into Prepar3d.
The same problem still exists with the spot on the window after the new install, so I have no idea where to look for the problem. I never noticed it before as I use to always fly with the virtual cockpit view centered. The following is exactly how I set the virtual cockpit view for my two-screen setup on my fuselage.
1.) Eyepoint (reset) CTRL+SPACE
2.) Num 6 key (2 times)
3.) Eyepoint (move right) CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER (10 times)
4.) Num 8 key (4 times)

PS: Fresh Cherokee install, no repaints or addons.

Perhaps a silly question at this point, but does the spot show up with other aircraft?

Problem resolved.
Did another uninstall. Rebooted PC. Checked for any leftover files A2A related. Found a few in My Documents folder and several in Lockheed Martin/Effects folder as pictured below. Deleted theses files. Reinstalled A2A Cherokee. No more spot on windshield. YEA !
Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. Maybe this information will help others with similar problems.

good to hear you got it sorted, sounds like something happened very specific to your P3D install as in all the years since release I dont recall ever coming across this or from a technical POV not sure what it could have been outside of a monitor issue hehe.

cheers,

Hi Lewis,
That A2A Cherokee was installed almost 10 years ago. I played a lot with it and now being in my 70s I do not remember all that I did or tried back then. The information of what I did I think is valuable as If I ever try a reinstall again, I will always check for any leftover files before reinstalling.

That spot is an unexplained aerial phenomenon (UAP) and you need to report it to the FAA. Or the CIA.
