CTD Cherokee 180 in P3D v5

Post by barnynash »

Hi, I have the newest version of P3Dv5 and the 180 but I keep getting crash to desktop as soon as I load the A/C in. I have tried multiple different sequences, e.g. load at default airport in F35 then switch aircraft, setup from the menu entirely, choose airport with no scenery and then load a/c in. Crash every time. Nothing I can see that is obvious in the event viewer, only thing I'm getting is this:
svchost (5736,R,98) TILEREPOSITORYS-1-5-18: Error -1023 (0xfffffc01) occurred while opening logfile C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log.

No idea if that is of use, but after each crash thats what I get... strange! Please help :)

So just tried again after various attempts at fixing, reinstalled, restarted PC, checked updates etc... same problem, everything else works just this a/c for some reason. Also no error log at all after the CTD now....

Hi barnynash - welcome to the A2A forums and sorry to hear you're having problems.

Is this a brand new installation of the Cherokee in P3Dv5, and if so, have you used the separate product installer for P3Dv5? As far as error logs, you should be able to find these using the Windows Reliability Monitor. If you could copy and paste the contents of one of these reports, it may give us a better idea of what's going on with your system.

Please can you also confirm if any other P3D utilities or add-ons are being loaded when you launch the sim?

Thanks,
Nick

Hi! thanks for your reply!

Its a brand new download and install, I tried at first to move install to my organised P3D addon file, encountered the error so uninstalled completely, ran and closed p3d and restarted pc. Then installed in default installer location in documents - no help.

I've had a look on WRM and the only fault I can see at the relevant time is an issue with HP Audio Switch... Sounds like a dodgy driver perhaps?

In terms of other addons, the normal ORBX and a few UK2000's other than that nothing else going on really!

**UPDATE** just got back to the PC and updated everything as far as I can in terms of drivers etc..(even the bios was due an update) BUT STILL THIS WEIRD CRASH! Also more annoyingly it seems that the above audio error is totally unrelated on the face of it, I checked the log and the error reports and absolutely nothing has been generated... So strange!

Nick! Breakthrough, so in my frustration of endless poking around I did a few things, FSUIPC update, BIOS update, and then I went full rage and sent my antivirus on an A2A man hunt around my pc destroying anything it found related to the cherokee... Chomped its way through a few files hidden deep away. Did a clean up of them.
Then a clean install and loaded up first time into default airport... I havent done alot yet so will fly around and test, will report back if still having issues...

Not exactly a delicate or technical fix but hey, the sledgehammer approach appears to have worked :)

Thanks for the update and good to hear you seem to have resolved the issue. Please drop us line if you have any more probs though. Not too sure about the HP audio driver in question, but sometimes it can be a very hard-to-find nut which is the culprit. Fingers crossed that in this case, the sledgehammer has done the job!

Cheers,
