Are the Cherokee's 3D (?) anding lights still uninstallable?

Post by gbinoz »

I'm running the Cherokee in P3DV4.1.
I seem to remember that when I installed the Cherokee there was an option to install A2A's special landing lights.
There was also a statement that if I wanted to revert to the standard landing lights I just had to run the installer again and select that different option. Well I just ran the installer again and that landing light option did not show. Has something changed here or am I thinking of older versions?

Thanks,
gb.

The 'special' landing light are no longer needed in P3Dv4 gb. That's because the new version of P3D natively supports proper dynamic lighting of terrain.

Nick

Hello,

yes as Nick states, P3Dv4 lighting changed entirely so the old FSX way of doing things is not needed on the P3D platform.

thanks,
Lewis

Lewis, tonight I have suddenly lost the 3D lighting effect of all my A2A fleet.

My sim PP3D V4.1. I am using Windows 10 64bit.
All has been well until tonight when I switched from flying the 182 to the 172, which I have not flown for over a month. (Been using the 182 exclusively)
I loaded the flight at KSEA at night and found that while I get reflections I also have that triangle looking light beam reminiscent of previous sims.

So far I have re-run the latest updates and even attempted a reinstall of the 182 in hopes that this would fix things.
I am now reaching out to the community with the hope that someone will have an idea how to fix.

Robin.

Hi Robin,

Do you have "dynamic lighting" ticked on the lighting settings page of P3D? If not, I believe this'll explain what you're seeing.

Thanks,
Nick

Thank you Nick. Somehow "dynamic lighting", became disabled in PP3d.
I re-enabled and all is well now.
