New p3dv4 - stange behavior.

Post by c172 »

Hi,
I used to fly p180 with FSX. Recently bought the p3dv4 version and install.
- got an error installing directX but process ended with the mention "install completed successfully" or so
Plane is now in sim but some features look strange:
- no moving parts or surfaces (flaps, rudder, aileron, elevator, power .. but wheels and steering wheel ok)
- I can control the plane with joystick but performances are crazy: 1500rpm 2000ft/mn 140kts !!!
Tried to uninstall then reinstall, no way. (file called Cherokee180_P3Dv4_Academic.exe)
I never faced this kind of trouble.
What am I doing wrong ?
Regards

Some other tricks.
- in/decrease power with mouse control makes sound and rpm react but the plane don't move !
- in/decrease power with Thrustmaster Joystick makes the plane move but sound and rpm remain idle. When full thrust, sound and rpm change.

- during flights, image freeze for around 1s, 3 to 5 times a mn

Hope somebody will figure out what's going on, this plane was so amazing in FSX !

Of course other planes (native or not) work fine

Hi - welcome to the forums.

Firstly, please can you confirm if you've installed the SimConnect client for P3D? From the FAQ thread:
Lewis - A2A wrote:P3D - Installed but nothing works and all is broken!?

P3DV3 sometimes won't install the required simconnect files. No worries though as they are provided by Lockheed in the following directory;
\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib
If not, please run the relevant SimConnect.msi installer, restart your PC and retest.

The FAQ thread linked above also contains a link to the DirectX 9 Runtime installer. You could also try downloading and running this if the issues persist.

Thanks,
Nick

Okay, thanks for the update. Do you have any antivirus software running when installing the products, and do you install with full admin rights to your Windows account?

Yep.
I stopped antivir and reinstalled as admin.

Hmm - not too sure what's going on here; hopefully Lewis from A2A will have a better idea when he's next online. :)

In the meantime please can you tell us what the full installation path is for the Cherokee. (i.e. did you use the default location in "My Documents" or did you modify it?)

Thanks,
Nick

One thing that's caught out others before was not rebooting the PC after SimConnect install...

Yeah, that's a good point Oliver. In fact, for the OP, if you can confirm if the maintenance hangar is working properly (i.e. all parts not being shown as broken) it should help rule out a SimConnect issue.

It might also be useful to know which version of Windows you're using and some basic system specs. Please can you also tell us which model video card you have and confirm if the drivers are up to date?

Thanks,
Nick

Hello,

Are you using the correct P3Dv4 Cherokee software and not any previous one?

where about's are you installing too (which directory) and is it setup to be a correct P3Dv4 add-ons directory.

Also how are you loading the flight?

thanks,
Lewis

Some other tests :
- assign full rights to my L:/A2A_installpath
- update NV drivers to 384.94

Reboot, no change !

Note : I only install display drivers, none of additional stuff (PhysX, 3D vision and controler, AudioHD, GeForce Experience).

Yes I have a test simobject_X folder (with old objects and planes) beside regular simobject folder.
It is added as entry.10 in the simobject.cfg
