When I read that the Cherokee's autopilot doesn't trim the aircraft, I was really happy, because usually, after using the autopilot's VS or ALT mode, the plane's trim disagrees with the position of my trim wheel.
I just tested the autopilot on the Cherokee, but I couldn't use my trim wheel (Saitek, mapped via FSX) to trim the plane while the AP was active. Trimming with buttons assigned to my yoke worked though. After disconnecting, the trim wheel works again.
Does anyone experience the same issue or even knows a workaround?
Autopilot and trim wheel
Re: Autopilot and trim wheel
Yes, same here. The trim wheel does not work if the autopilot is on.

Re: Autopilot and trim wheel
Use the Input Configurator: <Microsoft Flight Simulator X>\A2A\Cherokee180\Tools to assign an analogue axis for trim. This is the only recommended method.
Re: Autopilot and trim wheel
I also have issues in this department.
I have the Cessna Saitek trim wheel.
Assigned axis through configurator...no dice.
Exact same issue as OP.

Thanks, Oskar!lonewulf47 wrote:Use the Input Configurator: <Microsoft Flight Simulator X>\A2A\Cherokee180\Tools to assign an analogue axis for trim. This is the only recommended method.
Setting the axis in the configurator fixed it.
Chad: I'm also using Saiteks Cessna trim wheel and assigning and inverting its X axis in the configurator worked for me.
Re: Autopilot and trim wheel
Ahhh,
did not invert axis. Will give that a shot.
Thank you for the tip. Glad you have it working.

Re: Autopilot and trim wheel
Inverting the axis makes the trim wheel work like in the C172: Moving the wheel forward trims down; moving backward trims up. If you don't invert, then it's the other wau around.
The trim wheel worked with engaged ALT mode even when I didn't invert the axis.
Remember that you need to select the X axis and not just the controller, although the trim wheel only has 1 axis.

Re: Autopilot and trim wheel
Trim control using default FSX assignments will return in an update, in the meantime assigning the trim axis using the Input Configurator is the right thing to do.
