Differential brakes showing, when braking.

Post by Eraser74 »

Hi!

When I use the brakes, FSX shows me shortly that I am using the brakes, but then it switches to differential brakes and back again...

When flying the C172 that hasn´t happened before. The flightstick Thrustmaster HOTAS X is configured through FSUIPC.

Any ideas?

What means do you use for brakes? A button on the Fighter Stick? Just be aware that if twisting the handle for directional control during braking a differential brake signal is created.

I am using a button on my stick for braking, but I did not turn the stick itself. Therefor it should not display differential brakes, but it does.

I use two setups, one with a full set of controllers and one with a joystick only. I do not see the issue you report. However it might still be that the rotating axis of your joystick is not properly centered. Already the slightest amount of rudder input will create the mentioned "asymmetric brake" message. Fresh centering as well as possibly increasding the Null Zone might be a cure. Just my five cents though. It is always difficult to give advice to a phenomenon that you can't replicate ... :)

It can happen if the brakes wear is uneven, FSX limitation.

You can completely disable FSX brakes messages by editing fsx.cfg.

I don't think that's a solution. I find that (with or without the messages actually showing) the brakes sometimes "stick" partly on and the aircraft drifts to one side.

Sometimes, I'm getting a fair bit of braking effect, but no message! It's weird!
