I've fallen in that trap as well, Liam. My UAC is off, I select to run every program through compatibility, but I still right-click and run every program as 'Administrator' for just the reasons you've encountered!

Hello Liam,
UAC is something different. The run as admin is more basic computing at a server style/network level. Admin as your account might be is kinda systemadmin, where as run as admin is the equiv of network admin. Rather confusing but just to be on the safe side always right click and run as admin where possible for software.
