I also used 2300 rpm cruising in the Caribbean.
My last flight was at 8500ft and MP was lower than 23 inches.

edit: Oh, just noticed. It's the Cherokee subforum. I was cruising in the Bonanza. Cherokee is sitting in the hangar. So many planes, so less sparetime.

Back when I flew a real 180C we used 2300 for cruise, reckoning 113 knots, 130 mph.

For flight planning purposes, the cruise RPM is based on density altitude and % power you're looking for. In the real Cherokee, I usually cruise at 65% (8.7GPH), but 75% (10GPH) in the virtual one. As a rule of thumb, from the POH, I use the following: 65% = 2375RPM at sea level + 50RPM/2500'. For 75% = 2500RPM at sea level + 50RPM/2500'
