Sudden CTD

Post by slewin »

Hi all,
I have updated the 172 for P3Dv5 and am running P3D hf1 and I’m suddenly getting ctd just as the sim finishes loading.
I don’t have any issues with other aircraft.

Help would be appreciated.
Win10
P3Dv5

Thanks

Hello,

We've still seeing a few reports of CTDs related to the Windshield.dll which seem to be restricted to some users of the ASP3D beta, possibly with undocked or multiple windows.

Please can you try disabling this file to see if it's the culprit in your case, either by renaming it or my moving it to another directory.

By default this file is installed to: "Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons\A2A\Gauges\Windshield.dll"

Thanks,

Hi Nick,
Unfortunately removing this file has not solved the issue.

I have had no issues with the aircraft until now and don't believe I have changed anything.

The sim pauses on compiling initial shaders at about 99% then crashes.

Hello,

Please can you give us a bit more info about your hardware and if possible, share a copy of the crash log?

In general terms (and particularly for P3Dv5) the first suggestion would be to delete the Prepar3D.cfg if you're having problems so that the sim will generate a new copy with default settings.

You could also delete the shader cache by removing this folder entirely: "C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5"

Thanks,

Hi Nick,
The issue appears to be related to a sound mixer I had installed which I have now removed and all seems as it should be.

Thanks
Scott
