The 02/04/19 update is failing on all 3 of my A2A products. I get messages like this:
Unable to check for update, the server file failed to load. "http://a2asimulations.com/wyupdate/c172/wyserver.wys": The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.
The computer running FSX runs Windows XP SP3. Firefox is the default browser. AVG Antivirus is installed but turned off during this install.
Next, I tried to install with a USB drive on my Windows 10 computer, following the directions in viewtopic.php?f=23&t=57819 . The install program hung when it said it had to close another process to install the update, the process to be closed oddly being itself. I pressed the Close Process button but nothing happened from that point.
Any suggestions?

Hello,
is this a new download of the updater?
Can you please let us know which products it is failing on exactly for you.
thanks,

Tried a fresh download of https://www.a2asimulations.com/download ... _04_19.zip. No change. I have the C172, C182, and Cherokee 180, and it gives the same error on all.

Hello,
has it ever worked for you in the past?
Is your AV Software blocking the update from happening?
thanks,
Lewis

I have installed earlier updates, but not this one. I have temporarily turned off my virus protection and firewall. No change.Lewis - A2A wrote: ↑22 Apr 2020, 11:36 Hello,

I run FSX on a computer that still has Windows XP. I keep it around to run my old applications, some of which won't run on anything newer. Could that be a problem?

Re: Feb 2019 Upgrade Fails
It could be. Bear in mind that mainstream support for Windows XP was terminated by Microsoft well over a decade ago and developers just aren't able to test on this platform. Windows XP doesn't support the latest cryptographic protocols that provide authentication and data encryption between PC's and servers which is likely to be the issue here.kscheidegger wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 20:07 I run FSX on a computer that still has Windows XP. You could try (re)installing the Microsoft .NET framework as described below, but I'm afraid there's no guarantee that this will resolve the issue.
