I did a re-install of everything today to solve the problem - didn't work:
On the start-up screen and also in flight, the livery of the 172 is partly transparent so that you can look into the plane from outside - funnily enough, there is an avatar in the back of the plane, which I had never seen before.
Here is a pic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ki9zcjboairlhmg/172.png?dl=0
I observed the same for the PMDG 747 QOTSII, interestingly the PMPG 737 NGX does show properly.
Any ideas?
Kind regards,
Frank

Re: Livery is half transparent ...
Hello Frank and welcome to the A2A forums.
Please can you let us know which sub-version of P3Dv4 you have installed, and whether all components are updated to at least v4.4 status (i.e. not just the Client).
Also, do you use any third-party shader mods in your installation of P3Dv4, and if so which one(s)?
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Livery is half transparent ...
Sorry Nick, I forgot to specify the version … ;-(
Here it comes:
Cheers, Frank
Here it comes:
- P3D v4.5.13.32097 (all components freshly installed yesterday)
No 3rd party shaders
So far no addons expect for A2A Cessna 172 and PMDG 737NGX and 747 QOTSII
Happens for both normal flying (on a monitor) and also in VR mode (both native P3D and with flyinside) with my Oculus Rift
Cheers, Frank

Re: Livery is half transparent ...
Thanks Frank,
Based on your description so far, it sounds like there may be an issue with PBR models only, as I believe the PMDG QOTSII is also a PBR model. DO you see the same issue with the default P3D F-16C, which is also a PBR model?
To try and resolve the issue, it may be worth you deleting your shaders cache, as described here.
Cheers,
Nick

Re: Livery is half transparent ...
Hi Nick,
good asumption - unfortunately the F16 looks perfect - no transparency at all. Only the A2A 172 and the PMDG 747 show these strange effects.
Everytime you start the sim - a new challenge! I suppose that is part of why this hobby is so fascinating.
Will you have - time allowing - a look at this potential PBR problem? Deleting the shaders was one of the first things I did - without any effect!
Thanks a lot and cheers, Frank

Re: Livery is half transparent ...
Hi Nick,
I may have found at least a hint. As soon as HDR is switched on (it has been switched off by flyinside - for whatever reason flyinside does not support HDR) the plane shows correctly. With HDR switched off again it looks as weird as before.
Any idea? In any case I would assume that everything should work with whatever HDR setting. Maybe this helps to trace the error down.
Cheers,
Frank

Re: Livery is half transparent ...
Hi Frank.
Thanks for the additional info. Yes, the PBR models and textures for the 172 should work fine both with HDR enabled or disabled.
My guess would be that there's some other application running on your system (Maybe Flyinside itself), or something left over from a previous version of P3Dv4 which is causing the issue. Short of clean reinstall of P3D, you could try the "delete generated files" option. More info on this here.
Cheers,
Nick

Re: Livery is half transparent ...
Hi Nick,
root cause found …
Deleting flyinside and the shaders helped - the plane shows correctly now with HRD enabled and disabled. So it must have got something to do with the way flyinside alters the shaders - as far as I know this is how flyinside generates the two views for the left and right eye. They did some magic with the shaders. I will reach out to them in their forum and report the bug with HDR and PBR …
Happy new year to you and the rest of the team!
Cheers,
Frank

Hello, I install A2A C172 for FSX all textures and livery are transparent. I don't have flyinside.

Please can you start a new topic, and give us a much info as possible including which version of FSX you're using and whether you have any global add-ons such as shader mods installed.
Also, please can you make sure that you've installed the latest Accu-Sim update which can be downloaded here.
Thanks,
Nick
