Download issues caused me to hit the 10 download limit

Greetings,

I've spent the past week or so trying to download the C172 Trainer for P3D V3 Academic. Unfortunately, something keeps dropping my connection with your server; between the outbound side of my ISP and your site. Granted, the Internet speed into my place is only a whopping 6Mbps, but using "Internet Download Manager" I manage to download the Orbx stuff all the time and even the complete Prepar3D V3.4 package. Since your server doesn't allow IDM to resume interrupted downloads (nor do you allow multiple connections, but that's another matter). I've hit the 10 download limit.

After reading some of the other posts I tried Chrome without the download manager and was able to download the C172 package for P3D V4, so if you could help me reset the download limit, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hello Brian,

I'm sure Lewis will be able to reset your download count when he reads your post. You can also reinstall from a downloaded installer multiple times, so it's generally a good idea to keep a copy of your downloaded files on a drive somewhere.

The aircraft installers are comparatively small files by modern standards (certainly when compared to Orbx scenery) so just downloading them via your browser should be pretty reliable.

Hello Brian,

if you can PM me your order number I can get the count reset for you. As you noticed, the use of the old style download manager is not supported and can cause corrupted. Best to simply use the download manager that comes with any modern browser.

As Nick points out you should only ever have to download your products once, as if a publisher was to disappear you would then be out of luck and lose software if you are downloading whenever you need it rather than buying your software, downloading then keeping safe your paid for product. Definitely best practice to always keep your things safe. I have a folder called FSX Add-ons where I tend to download all my stuff too and regularly backup so I always have the software there and ready to install as needed.

Having said that if you ever need anything just post on the forums as you have done here and we can get you sorted out.

Thanks folks for the quick response.

I usually keep a copy of the downloads on a spare drive. When I upgraded to P3D V3.4, the C172 didn't install. Thus the need to re-download the latest version. Wish me luck downloading it before the kids get out of school and hog up all the bandwidth.
