Hi guys...
i see this big problem with c172, use on p3d 4.3.
If use the glareshield lights or pedestal lights i see the vc lights with bad textures.
Look this photo...

Hi gianluk81 - welcome to the forums.

This visual colour banding results from the use of fairly low bit depth textures for the dimmable glareshield and fuel selector lighting. Because dimmable lights aren't natively supported in the sim, this is a compromise to help with performance.

To minimise the colour banding, please try turning the glareshield lights up a bit more, or use the dome light instead.

Thanks,
Nick

Yes running P3D v4.5 with the HF3 apart to set 4xSSAA, FXAA off and 4096x4096 textures my system run pretty well the sim the CPU (i7 6700K @ stock 4.2Ghz) is working on evenly all 8 logical cores between 70 and 95% most of the time and the GC (GTX 1080) is working on a average load of 58/60%. What I have experienced recently is when I active the glareshield light, my GTX 1080 hit 100% usage all the time the glareshield light is active whatever dimmable position as soon as I active this glareshiels light, the GC is working very hard to 100% all the time. This isn't happening with the pedestal light neither with all other lights inside the virtual cockpit. I don't take care at the FPS as mine are locked to 25 FPS and all is running smooth. But when the glareshield light is active, I can observe micro stutter on the scene outside and inside the virtual cockpit meaning I get probably less than 25 FPS.

A2A dev's have you found a solution apart to don't use the glareshield light in the night please?

Hello Gerard,

Are you using the optimised glareshield lighting option for the 172 which is available via the aircraft configurator? If not, this is something you may wish to try: it uses fewer individual light sources so trades a bit of visual fidelity for a smaller performance cost.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello Nick-A2A, to say true, I didn't took care about this setup via the Configurator. I just went to select Dynamics light to Optimized option and will take a test quickly then report if something changed. Thank you for the help @Nick.

PS: I went just to make a quick test and result with the setup via configurator dynamics light to optimized, in game when the glareshield light is full bright my GC rise from 55/58% usage to 82/84% ; that is better than 100% as before. Thank you @Nick-A2A for the help.

Happy to hear this option has helped Gerard. You'll find that dynamic lighting in P3Dv4 is a bit harder on FPS if you use SSAA rather than MSAA.

I also recommend that you update to latest version of P3Dv4 to make sure you benefit from any performance optimisation made by Lockheed Martin.

All the best,
Nick

Hello @Nick-A2A yes indeed I run P3D v4.5 + Hot Fix 3. And to add setting SSAA is the best looking for me and my system can hold this; no shimmering no edges but I must compromise to run at locked FPS to 25 or 30; anyway all is running smooth on my side and for now I enjoy playing either P3D v4.5 HF3 and also P3D v5 + HF 1.
I'm waiting as mainly others simmers the update for A2A P3D v5 new installer. Thank you for your support greatly appreciated.
