C172 radio stack not working on P3DV4

Post by wthielke »

I just installed A2A C172 on P3D V4. Previously had on V3 working great. On V4, the radio stack doesn't work. The G400 comes on, but nothing else in the radio stack. I did push the on/off switches. Everything is dark.

Also, the heading bug on the Heading Indicator doesn't change when I use my mouse wheel on it.

Help?

Hello wthielke - when you installed the 172, did you use the separate P3Dv4 installer?

Thanks,
Nick

I used the installer that came with p3dv4.1. I also ran the latest a2a updater afterwards, which cleared up a problem I was having with differential brakes.

The clock / OAT gauge isn't working either.

Thanks, but I meant did you re-download the A2A Cessna 172 package from their store when you switched to P3Dv4? The zip file contains two separate installers: one for P3Dv1-3 and one for P3Dv4.

NIck,

I extracted and ran the V4 one. I'm sure of that, because I only extracted that one from the zip file.

Problem solved, but not sure why. I had also installed the A2A 182 at the same time. Out of curiosity, I loaded the 182 and the radio lights worked. When I reloaded the 172, the lights now work.

Thanks for your help.

Now I just wish Mindstar supported p3dv4. I want my Garmin 430 and 530!

Okay, thanks for the update Wes - good to hear you're sorted even if it's not clear what the culprit was.

Now I noticed a new problem. The fuel gauge isn't working. It shows empty on both tanks. I tried switching to the 182 and back, but it didn't help. The fuel gauge is working on the 182 and the 172 does have fuel.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Might be worth clicking on the "INST" circuit breaker - it's just above the beacon light switch.

Nick, you're a genius. That worked. When I checked this, I noticed some other breakers that were off, but though I flipped them on, my OAT gauge and radios were off. I switched to the 182 and back, and then everything was working. I hope this isn't going to be a persistent problem, but I'll see. I wonder why the 182 affects the 172.

When I fly for real, I always check the circuit breakers, of course, but it's hard to tell they're off visually in the sim.

Good stuff Wes - thanks for the update. Not sure what the logic is that causes the breakers to trip in the A2A Cessna, but they don't seem to do so very often. At least I've never had one that has!

Cheers,
Nick
