Cause engine failure using .xml (mission file) A2A C172

Post by hmadison »

I write xml files to create missions in P3D for the A2A C172. My normal code won't cause an engine failure as it does with "stock" P3D aircraft. In fact, I can't even manually use the P3D menu mid-flight to fail the engine. How can I accomplish this?

At present we don't have a way to just fail an engine on demand. This is however a utility we have been wanting to make for some time and do see it being available down the road.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to see if maybe this had been developed after all.

I'm doing some flight training with my son using the excellent C-172 addon. I'd like to be able to throw some engine failures at him on command. Currently I have a small Bluetooth controller set up and I've mapped some buttons for things like pause, etc, which is handy. But being able to hit a command and fail his engine would be great! :)

I do currently have a workaround, in that I mapped a button to just switch his magnetos off. So for now I'll do that and just tell him when he can or can't restart the engine.
