No Gyro Sound?

Post by PeterZ KCLE EDDN »

Hi there,

I just purchased this wonderful 172 last night and I'm still reading through the wonderfully prepared documentation included with this simulation, so I haven't even taken off yet........

I have however sat in the cockpit to follow along with the docs, and that's when I found out that the "a2a_c172_gyro.wav" sound that's in the 172's folder doesn't play when I turn the battery on?!

I have hundreds of hours IRL in various 172's and that was always my favorite sound, but for some reason I can't hear it in this simulation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Pete

Pete,

It's quiet. It's one of those sounds that can easily get annoying if too loud. We have it play loud at the start, then simmer down.

I'v found there is maximum_volume=6000 in sound.cfg for a2a_c172_gyro file. What value would be identical as in real C172?

At 6000 I do not hear anything. ( XP pro 32 bit). If I set it to 8000, I do hear it in the background, if all is quiet -- as I would expect.

I did it :D But I would like to know what exactly you can hear when sitting in real C172.

After he turn the master switch on, and the just before he starts the engine, the Gyro is clearly heard, spinning up.
