C172 Trainer - GPS? Does it even work?

Post by Mart2020 »

Hello,

I just downloaded the C172 Trainer. Some of the pictures on the A2A website show a GPS that I do not find on this model. The only GPS I was able to find is a G400, not really sure it does everything either. I just wonder why there's no G430, a better GPS, for a $50.00 price tag for this plane. Hope someone can answer... again, pictures on the A2A website do show a much better GPS than the G400, which looks very poor for the high cost of this Cessna... definitely expected more. Let me know, please.

Thanks! :?

Hello,

As mentioned on the store page, the 172 includes support for third-party GPS products as well as the default GPS in FSX/P3D. You don't mention which host sim you're using, but at present there's support for the RealityXP GNS 430/530 and GTN 650/650 and the equivalent products from Flight1 (depending on sim).

The third-party GPS units are based on Garmin's own trainer software so are effectively a 1:1 simulation of the real software. The default GPS units include both the GPS 400 or GPSMAP 295 mountings and use the inbuild GPS gauges, so are compatible with features such as the default flight planner.

Thanks,
Nick

Can you provide links to those pictures you reference on the A2A store? I'm unable find any that show an aftermarket GPS add-on.

Edit: Never mind, I found some on the P3D version store page.

Snipped from the “Features”:
Three in-sim avionics configurations including no GPS, GPS 295, or the GNS 400. Built-in, automatic support for 3rd party GNS 430 and 530.
Kind Regards
