I sent in several issues and bugs by email, but other than:
"maybe in future"
"not planned"
or
"usually this should work"
I got nothing back. A forum is also missing. After all I find their support barely over the support from RXP- here at least a forum exists where users can help users (even though that's about it).
Kind regards, Matthias

Thanks. Maybe I'll email them directly and ask. What other bugs did you run across?

Sad.

Makes one think that it should actually be possible to earn some money in this niche of the business, by creating a complete enough product for a decent price, forming some business alliances with relevant plane add-on companies, and behaving professionally about it all. Now if only I could find the time and enough long-term motivation to start programming on this... ;-)

I bought this morning Mindstar GNS 430/530 to install it in my cessna 172 A2A.
After reading your topics and try to modify the panel.cfg, it does'nt work.
it stayes black and the pop up flashes the Prepar3D v2.
I try several config of panel.cfg, read on this forum.
No one works
Somebody could give me the good listing of the cessna 172 A2A panel.cfg?
I have Prepar3D V2

Thank you

The first post in this thread works, although people have suggested a few minor changes in later posts. Make sure you do this, or nothing will work:
Now, in order for the A2A C172 to recognize these entries: Simply create a new text document by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting New/text document. Rename that text document rxpGNS.dll and place the new file you just created into your FSX or P3D/gauges folder. Your trainer will now recognize your new entries, and now when you select either GNS430 or 530 in the panel popup menu, your Mindstar GNS unit will be active.

What features are you specifically wanting?

Todd
Great input Todd,

I am wavering because my favorite, RealAir's Lancair's 530 seems to be working just fine but then , I am newbie to GPS operation and what it should do, and the built-in, as I understand it, is the default FsX gauge even though I'm flying P 3-D.

I'm not asking you to "pitch me", as a salesman for Mindstar, but, I am participating in the wonderful Pilotedge for learning how to navigate The real world of VFR, IFR and ATC,(SIDS,ENroute,STARS,Approach, etc chart) reading...all things , by the book, as real as I can get, cause I can't afford lessons or hundred dollars an hour for the plane...

That being said :

1. Why should I spend $50/$40 for the Mindstar gauges(1000,530,430) plus updates?
2. what features does Mindstar give me over the default built in FSX GMS 530/430(given I have already read about Mindstar's response, "Download and Read the Garmin manual, then the BS after purchase Mindstar run around, "oh we don't use that feature to train our students"?

If you could just point me to a cogent, users non-Mindstar review of what I requested of you above, that would be just fine too.

Thanks in advance for your speedy reply,

Chas

So are you the famous Matias that we have all seen on Avsim and aviation Sim World?

I just need to know should I spend my bux on the Mindstar 530/430 keeping in mind that I am on PILOTSEDGE.NET for the very purpose of better learning VFR and IFR, ATC communications, reading departure, STARS ENroute, SIDS and approach charts so that I can be as real as I can be flying a simulator.

So is the Mindstar GNS 530/430 better...more real...than the default 530 in my favorite RealAir Lancair Legacy?

Thanks in advance for a speedy reply

Chas

No, I am not.

Is the Mindstar better than the standard GPS? Sure it is. Is it better than the RealityXP? For sure not, in my eyes.
Kind regards, Matthias

Has anyone been able to get the GNS 430/530 to work in the 172 under P3d 2.2? It worked fine for me under P3d 2.1, except for the "crash on sim exit" bug. Now, even loading the 172 with the modified panel.cfg causes P3d to lock up. The 172 has no problems under P3d 2.2, except for a couple of the external aircraft lights not displaying properly. I tried reinstalling the 172, the Mindstar gauges and also Accusim, but it made no difference.

Yes, I have a working Mindstar 530 in the 172 in p3dv2.2. Same as 2.1. Still get the runtime error saving a flight plan though, but Mindstar were looking at it.

In my opinion the RXP is the better unit, but that's in the bin as P3dv2 is by far the better sim now.

Thanks for the response. If you are doing something different with the configuration than what is suggested in the initial post in this thread, could you attach a copy of your modified C172 panel.cfg file to a post? I still can't get either the 430 or the 530 to work with P3d 2.2. I must have some other add-on that is now in conflict with the Mindstar units.

Thanks, that's what I have in panel.cfg. I must have a conflict between the Mindstar set and some other add-on.

I have somewhat managed to get the gns 530 working in the window..but in the vccockpit view the gps shows inside the moving map display of default 400..not sure what is wrong.

So is there a final panel cfg setup that works correctly?
