Engine Sounds and Flyby Sounds

Post by TIGER_33 »

Questions for Shockwave staff..

Is it possible to make a better "sound engine" for each aircraft with
more samples like start or stop, idle and multiples rpm samples?
Can you modify also flyby sounds for more "random flyby samples" ?
I'm the creator of the engines samples "Il2 sound mod" and i can contribute to make this new job if it's possible...
I made by the past the "RAF flyby mod for Bob2" and I think that it would be necessary to improve complete sequence of engine sounds for your fantastic simulation.

Hi Tiger_33,

We really have no one who has worked on the sound code. Just new files to replace the ones's in the game.

We would love to have your help with the BOBII sound but we really have noone to support you with code changes if that is required.

hey tiger, congrats on the fantastic work for IL2, shame ppl are still defending the very poor sound of the original, as yours adds tenfold what the original gives.

I have changed some of the sounds in the SAMPLESHI folder, loved the RAFFlyby one of your and also found a great one for LUFFlyby too that was in a buttkicker alternate sounds pack.

Anyhow, I'm gonna be keeping an eye out for your work on BOBII, if you need a tester I'd love to help out mate.

Welcome ...BOB WOV will definitely benefit from any help you can provide the sound engine.

As an Il-2 on-liner you don't want to hear what I think of the Sound Mod. Here its a different story.....this game developers want and promote help from the community in all areas of the developement. The code here hasn't been incripted or has been opened to the community to do as they wish. Parts of the code of the other was incripted for a reason.

Thanks for your answer BDG Staff.
Any chance to someone modify sound code in order to create
new sound sequency for each aircraft in game?
Same work for multiples random flyby....
I've many ideas (and samples) for that.
Also no polemic for il2 mod sound i'm the creator of
sound samples for this mod and it's all but it's already an very big work for
all engines...

Thanks all posts for your support.

Very nice to see you here Tiger!
The difference the sound mod did to the IL2 experience was so huge that I though I was playing a new game the first time I tried it.
Hope your experties will be used wisely by BDG!
Any progress yet?

Tiger,
If you are looking at the engines sounds would it be possible to incorporate the pop and crackle of the Merlin when the throttle is chopped, they sound gorgeous just prior to touchdown :D

Trumper.
the youtube merlin starting sound is beautiful, thats for real, and the pop and crackle as she starts and lands.
that would be brilliant if the coders could do that,as its not the same without it.

That has a beautiful sound. I have always wanted the startup, idle and shutdown sounds to be improved. I would look forward to some work here.
