Just saying hello

Post by eccles »

Hello all,
Have just bought BoB2 installed and patched it to 2.05 and I must say it is very impressive. For the moment at least will only be flying the Hurricane in the quick missions. So far have managed to shoot down a HE-111 and a 109, it is'nt easy but the sim has really got me hooked already.

Is there much of a difference between the 2.05 and 2.06 patches? A big thank you to everyone at Shockwave for all their hard work and effort.
Well gotta fly, see you later.

cheers eccles.

Hi eccles, welcome to BOBII.

The 2.06 AI becomes better and more aggressive, we implemented better AI skil levels, and we fixed alot of bugs and implemented some new features.

In 2.06.1 we had to implement some campaign changes to tame the AI down a bit.

I think it is best to stay with us on the patches so you can understand and participate in the forum discussions as you gain experience and we can support you if you have a problem..

Enjoy and good hunting.

Keeping up to date

Post by eccles »

Thanks for the welcome Buddye, downloading the 2.06 patch as I type. Yes it would be a good idea to stay current and up to date.

Strewth those Bf110's are a bit tasty are'nt they? Harder to shoot down than the 109's. The blighters leave me for dead every time, I'll nail one, practise, practise.

cheers

Yes, there is a very big difference in many respects from 2.05 to 2.06.

The magnitude of the change is not as large going from 2.06 to 2.06.1 but the campaign gameplay is much improved and there are quite a few other fixes & changes that are important but perhaps less noticeable to the average user.

The latest 2.06.1 update is a small download as well. I strongly recommend you get it.

Hi Eccles, install the 2.06 patch/upgrade, you won't regret it; after that, if your hardware is strong enough (at least 128 mb onboard your Vcard), proceed with Multiskin for 2.06 and after that the 2.06.1 patch and you are done.

You won't be able to appreciate how big is the difference from the previous updates, but I assure you it is HUGE and it is worth your effort.

Tweaking the bdg.txt file will be critical as well for a good set up to meet your taste. WoV offers you a very rich plate of choices.

People in this forum will give you all the help and assistance that you may need.

Cheers

These are Goon Show references, right? I've seen so many quotes from comics crediting them for inspiration, but in all the recordings I've heard, between the lo-fi microphones, the heavy accents, and the crowd noises, I've never been able to penetrate them to hear the actual material. I can usually make out about one line out of five. And, then, I usually don't understand it, and wonder if that's because it's an arcane cultural reference or just some totally loopy silliness.
