OT avatar probs

Hi Guys,
I'm having trouble stickin an avatar,Tried doin it as requested in profile set up,still no joy.
Newbie probs I guess,all i get if I try is a cross but no avatar.

Hi mate, first, you have to prepare your photo and make it small enough to fit as an avatar, then upload it to a image hosting website like for example photobucket, then copy the url address that photobucket gives you and go to profile, you see three options, look at the last of the three that says:

"Link to off-site Avatar:
Enter the URL of the location containing the Avatar image you wish to link to."

Then paste the URL for the photo that you uploaded before, and click submit.

That should do the trick.
