I am amazed and very thankful that the team is still working on improvements to this great program. The patch works great in the instant action missions I have flown, but the program crashes when I alt-X because I am using win10, dependent on the mission.

When I do training missions I don't have the problem. My favorite is "follow the leader" where I invariably shoot the bugger down after he bitches at me. No problems there. But when engage in an intercept or escort mission where I inevitably get shot down, alt-X after the plane crashes, crashes the program.

I have read the other thread on Win 10 issues, and plan on continuing to test. Worst case I'll install another HD in the new system and put Win 7 on it for a dual boot. After 5 1/2 years it was finally time to upgrade, although it was more out of concern of component failure than performance.

Thanks again for your work.

Nick

Interesting observation. Thank you. Makes me wonder about what causes this Win 10 ALT_X road block?

In the bdg.txt file in the BoBII root folder, there is this line:

No_Spinning_Death=ON #This is the switch for the death effect OFF = spinning death (Rowan) or ON = red your dead death effect

Could you please try to switch this ON or OFF, and see if it helps to get through the ALT-X CTD?

I am stabbing into the dark, here. I do not have Win 10 yet, so cannot test this myself.

Apologize for the delayed response. Unfortunately either on or off makes no difference. Although the screen is just red, the simulation continues. I've got particles low and ground objects minimum also, but that makes no difference. I can crank up all the detail and not have any difficulties attacking bomber formations shrouded in flak - the system handles that without a hiccup. I did have one successful exit from the game after a large instant action engagement where I basically flying alone at 10,000 feet and successfully exited. Perhaps something to do with the number of objects within visual range at the moment of exiting?

You're not the first to notice that (unless that was you made the
previous post...). Failure to alt-X was noted to be more frequent
with more ground activity.

I tried to run the latest patched game after having upgraded to Win 10 and I get an error when I try to run an instant mission - something to do with 'BOB English text has stopped working'. I get into the game GUI itself ok its just when it tries to load the mission text that explains what you will be doing or which pilot you will be. I did install the new patch over the old one.

ATI Radeon HD4850 512mb graphics

BOB settings on high, 1280 res, 16xAnisotropic - very smooth gameplay

Did you go through all the items recommended
in the install readme - although for W10, some
of them may not help, or possibly make things
worse, we haven't fully sorted that yet.

(Any failure of the program results in "english text"
in the error message, as that string is part of the
program identifier. The only meaningful crash information
comes as usual from the crashlog file.)

I get these huge stutters / pauses right after I go into a game.
The game starts fine but when I take a look around it first stutters / pauses like 1 - 2 seconds. Then it goes smooth. Then after that it stutters and pauses for 5 entire seconds
before I can fly normally.
I think this has something to do with the multiskin patch, because 2.12 was not like this, but I did not use multiskin pack for that one.
Any tips?
I have badass rig. 16 gig ram. Windows 7 pro 64 bit.
All other flight sims goes smooth on ultra settings

Does it stutter that bad with MultiSkin Disabled?

I get 1-2 second stutters, just after I enter game, and swing the view around real fast.
This in Campaign with a lot of aircraft around. Even with MS disabled as I recall.
After more stuff gets loaded into game, apparently, I can do that without those long pauses.
If this is what you are seeing, then there is nothing we can do about it,
except to limit the things loaded into game. Like disabling MultiSkin, and having Ground Objects set lower than Full.
Also may have to disable AUTOGEN forests.

I have accepted these radical pauses that only happen just after entering 3D,
because it does not happen again after I have been in game a minute.

For general frame rate improvement through out the entire 3D time of flying,
see here about deleting some HUGE ObjectAdd files and trees that effect frame rates tips:

http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... te#p377842

There are hundreds and hundreds of individual trees that were placed around Manston and Hawinge. I always delete the ones pictured in the link above.
All the ones that are bigger than 50 kilobytes at least.

Hi PieceOfCake!
Reinstalling v2.13 won´t get rid of multiskin as it is already installed on your system.
You´ll need to uninstall completely the simulator and start a new "fresh" installation from CD,
then install the v2.13 path without choosing the "multiskin" option.

I think there is a way to configure the simulator for not using the "multiskin" feature
and not having to go through the installation process again, but I don´t remember it by now :(
