It shows pilots from 'A' Flight , 602 Sqn at Westhampnett during the BofB and below the MK1a spitfire of Sqn.Ldr. Sandy Johnstone taking off...anyway so far it has been about 26hrs worth of work.

Looking very good so far mate.
Is it all pencil work or have you used pens for the top left corner?
Beautiful work on the light and shadows, quite hard to distinguish it from a photo without close scrutiny. I'm looking forward to the finished picture.
BTW is this a commisioned drawing or is it just for fun?

Its all pencil, no ink at all in the drawing
Its not a commission, but its for an exhibition near me in July, hope to win something this year again, and after the show I'm intending to take it to Glasgow for the opening of the offices of the reformed 602 Sqn. The association are trying to get as many of the pilots and groundgrew of 602 there and I am going to try and get as many as I can to sign it, then I'll run off about twenty prints and present the original, framed , to the C/O of the reformed 602 to hang in the offices....well thats the plan lol

Outstanding, Kev. Just outstanding.
That's a great plan, btw.
Interestingly, I was looking at a die-cast 1:32 scale model Spit at the Shuttleworth collection just yesterday (with Wolfram and James). It was of LO-Q, Sandy Johnstone's plane, complete with Squadron leader penant (which, by the way, has now made its way into Multiskin, so you'll get a penant as a squadron leader now).

Hi 602, I find your work in progress simply amazing, I dare to say that your skills are like the good wine, cause they are improving (and how much!...) through years, especially (beg your pardon if my english may be inadequate) I see the faces of the characters, their expressions, they are so realistic IMHO!
Impressive.
Looking forward to your finished work!
