Hi dvm,
Thank you again for the feedback. I believe I just found an online store that can sell me both an FF2 and the G940 for $300 and I'm pretty tempted at this point.
I took a similar approach to you in that I screwed my Saitek pedals to the floor but I like your idea of mounting your controls to supports attached to your chair.
I may just end up getting both as it would seem they're the best around and who knows how long they'll be available. (especially the Logitech system)

I have seen them for sale online brand new at prices ranging from $75-$600. I know I don't want the precision model but the pro model I saw was the cheaper one whereas the non-pro version was the $600 one. Does anyone happen to have the model number for whichever one is the better of the two?
Here's the link to one of them:

Here's the other:

OK the $600 one is obviously mis-marked.
From what I've checked out online, the best version is supposed to have a rubberized handle and red base and number 3 and 4 button lights but I have no idea what the part number should be and there's quite a variety out there all beginning with X0.
Can any of you tell me what PN(s) represent the preferred versions?
Those 2 websites show the latest msffb2 with the red lights, and also the 4 silver buttons.
The earlier msffb2 had a green light, and 4 black buttons,so you are best of getting the red light and 4 silver buttons msffb2 joystick.
Hope that helps.

I have been on the web about the msffb2 in winxp64,someone said they weren't sure it worked in winxp64,as the msffb2 is a 32bit system joystick,so make sure to inquire whether it works in winxp64 first before you buy it,just a heads up.

I actually inquired about it and found out that you can purchase the replica joystick for around $1000.00 and soon you'll be able to get the pedals. I think the gun sight is sold separately too. In any case you can add the rest of the cockpit later for about another $12,000 or so.

Thanks marine. I'll be sure to check into it. I think the latest model with the red lights comes in a darker colored red and black box too so I'm looking for that as well to make sure.marine wrote:chumleigh

Re: Can anyone recommend a good force feedback stick
One thought for those looking for a Sidewinder 2 FF stick. There are two versions out there the early one was a game port versiona nd later they came out with a USB version. If you wind up with a game port version you can buy a adapter to convert it to USB. I found one for $15.00. I used to have one but it is the land of the lost.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good force feedback stick
FYI .... to program a Sidewinder on Win7 you need a 3rd party controller s/w package.
I did a bunch of research and came away with the impression that the Pinnacle product is the best choice.
It is very robust and will enable you to program a lot more than just a Joystick.
I've been using it ever since without issue.
As I mentioned to Chumleigh, while it doesn't take a guru to configure it, it is not for someone who expects to simply plug & play with a few clicks.
Note: I've owned both the Red & Green light versions (have a red one now). Except for the color of the indicator, they seem exactly the same to me.
MS used to get a nice premium for the "rare" red light model.
They are built as solid as a tank and the Force Feedback experience is just super!

Alex, I just bought a copy of windows 7 64 and I'm thinking I might leave BoB on XP 64 bit. In any case I'll be consulting with you on setting up the SWFF2 if I pick one up.
DVM: I found a G940 display model at Fry's Electronics (huge computer retailer in Palo Alto CA) for $189.00.
Now I'm really tempted!
