This year's PC Gamer Top 100 best games of all time has BoB II in the top 50 at no.49.
(It's chosen by a panel of 22 staff writers (from both the UK and US), rather than the readers' top 100 which is a public vote. Last year's position was 70.)
From Tim Stone:
" Dozens of WWII flight sims deliver thrilling, challenging dogfights. Only one, this one, manages to make those dogfights feel earth-shattering important. In BoB II's amazing unscripted campaigns, every downed Dornier and savaged Stuka is a personal landmark, a step - a tiny step - towards British salvation. "Per ardua ad astra" indeed.""
Couldn't agree more! Well done to all at BDG!

Fantastic and well deserved.
I really ought to reload the sim and plug in the controllers again but time is very restricted now.
If only the BDG had the manpower of some of the bigger programmes.
Brilliant well done all

Heinkill, you've forgotten yourself in that list, for documentation, testing, mission packs...

Re: PC Gamer Top 100 2011: More recognition for BoB II.
This is just great news, and even as someone who was a customer many years ago of the original Rowan’s BOB, it was obvious this game had a very serious effort and a unique way to create a simulation. Rowan was pulled away quicker than they thought and had to wrap it up, which is why it was released in an unfinished state.
Now, with all the improvements and polish this program has seen with the sequel and the long effort from the BDG, this is a well-deserved and accurate award. If you are serious about WWII air to air combat, BOB2 is the one.
We were very aware when developing BOB2, when it was released, it was the very best in the following areas:
- Aircraft modeling
- Sky and Clouds
- Visual effects
- Audio
- AI
- Dynamic campaign
- Historical Accuracy
- High altitude terrain and distance
These are major areas. It had bugs, no question, but now after so many years, with Buddy’s taking over the AI completely, whacking just countless bugs, and the constant effort from the BDG, it remains in a class by itself.
It is just so great to see this kind of recognition for BOB2 and the BDG.
Scott.

Scott, I think you have to include yourself in that, as you helped to bring it further forward and keep it in the public eye.

Re: PC Gamer Top 100 2011: More recognition for BoB II.
Prem,
We took a major hit with BOB2, not because of the game, but the publisher we did business with (which dissolved many years ago) and also quite frankly, my inexperience. It was a crash course in game dev and publishing for us, to say the least. A lot was learned.
A2A is lucky to have the BDG carrying the torch forward, and we will continue do whatever we can to support that. Very good things have happened in the past few years with BDG / BOB2, Accu-Sim, etc. We're patient and building a future one brick at a time.
