the famous cliffs - water res turned to low to get the atmosphere misty as al the photographs show
I have decided to go off highly reflective water - in all sims -it's like the most exquisite candy wrapper which catches the eye, but that 'cause that's the only way they can sell crap candy, telling book from it's cover, blah, blah
the original moving waves texture is far more intrinsically, artistic, and has a soul like an Italian motor car
Image

the sparse but full............. the errant forrest
the previous drove me insane for years -as did the hedgerows
I wish the cut edges could be blurred to not be so jagged to the eye
- nice shadows in this

B - I prefer washed out landscapes with invisible horizons - mebee I influenced by African sun-bleached blindingly bright airscapes where horizons completely merge with the landscape and the clouds

Bader came to our school in Rhodesia jus after UDI, '67 or so, squeaked stiff-legged onto the stage and gave a "beat 'em up" speech with a pipe in his mouth- musta been a govt
sponsored moral- lifting visit to justify UDI, as I remember he wasn't exactly pro-Brit at that time, Harold Wilson and the Labour Party etc whom favoured Unions so much, it paved
the way for Thatcher to then later destroy them, the Brits got so sick of Labour
Anyway, he musta had some wealthy Rhodesian friends, and of course Ian Smith whom was also shot down over Italy in a Spitfire, and whom went on to lead the It-eye Partisan
resistance to the end of the war. Comrades in Arms.
Quite a character with no legs - the most famous of all Brit Fighter pilots, "Reach for the Sky" by Brickhill, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Bader

Nude Patrol...... 1940 style
( the Brits in fact rarely painted nose art on their military aircraft, other than non-nude stuff like Douglas Bader ( 'tin-legs') whom had a boot kicking Hitler on his Hurricane - he had defending his country more in mind than women in 1940 )

what he thought of the British Government, after all the blood they had spilt for the Crown against tyranny and for civilization, to then be thrown themselves to tyranny.

Frankly when you see todays images of the Boat People, and EU insistence that the UK accept substantial portions of ongoing millions of African migrants,
their government has effectively thrown their own people to the oncoming of tyranny - ask me, I'm from Africa and experience is 1st hand

When you guys over there gain a substantial number of millions of potentially savage 3rd world migrants, yer may then have to very carefully look after young children if they anything like our society:

Although I'm otherwise finnished with my terrain texture colours I hope to add another version of the trees tile which should blend a bit better as in this pic.

must say,,,,, very good

wish the forest edges could be experimented with in terms of a degree of a blur on the perimeter and stop the jagged edge - somebody needs to code this

If you set "enable forest rim trees" in bdg.txt, you
should get more rough edges caused by the pseudo-3D
(two 2D images at right angles) trees. There are several
"forest_rim" variables to play with, to balance appearance
vs performance.

But, yes, it would be nice to have some landuse edges be
translucent and overlapping at the edge. One of several
dozen graphics upgrades on the wishlist, if we ever get
a C++ graphics whiz to code for us.

Boreas,

That really looks nice, I like both the color of the terrain and the trees.

Was testing the LuftWaffe Commander Campaign,
and the unfortunate fact that the Bomb In Trail option does not always work.

Well.. it sometimes works, but it is not a clean crisp ON or OFF switch.
JUST FOLLOW MY DAMNED COMMANDS, ya fakking punks!

All too often my Mission orders are not obeyed. And the "Bomb in Trail" order is not followed.
Hey.. I guess that the LufWaffe Officers were ALL assholes & idiots, and never ever followed orders?
Maybe 1 in 10. The Nazi Party members were assholes & idiots.

Anyway.. I think... kind of... how to turn Bomb In Trail on. Although this does not always work 100%.
JUST FOLLOW ORDERS! for chrissakes.

The turn ON key seems to be with flying as 2nd Staffel Fox Leader, tho I ain't 100% sure.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I bomb the Itchen River aircraft factories, I want Bomb In Trail!!!
I know how to set up the approach to Target, too.

This time I set up Bomb In Trail, and it worked.
One Gruppe Ju88s with two Gruppen of Emils and one Gruppe of Me110s. (I never attack with less than 2:1 odds. 3:1 is better)
Load Up!

Bombers in Trail before Dog Leg Way Point. OK I got Bomb In Trail for the bombers.
And 3 Gruppen of fighter escorts. :)
Which are also in Trail formation, which I DO NOT WANT, and is NOT Standard Operating Procedure.
Well.. the Germans are all idiots, I guess, in this war game. They are coded to lose.

Image

I sent up a lot of Hardware into the air.
Like I always say... I don't like 1:1 odds.
RAF sent up 3 Squadrons.

Image

Some of the interceptors penetrated the escort screen and were getting close into the bomber formation.
I had to stop being a casual observer, and man the guns!

Image

I had to do some shooting, but the escorts engaged the RAF and chased them away!
Got more escorts than I needed.

Image

You can never have TOO MANY escorts.

Image

The RAF is busy with my escorts.
Approaching Southampton, Anti Aircraft Command guns are the last line of defense.
I usually lose 3 bombers to this heavy, but inaccurate FLAK.

Image

This is why I demand that Bomb In Trail should work , as ordered!
It currently does not, 100% of the time.

Bomb in Trail is "The Order Of The Day" when bombing the Itchen River factories.
Can often HAMMER the the Woolston factory, and lay collateral damage on the other aircraft factories,
if you line up the ASSAULT approach well.

Image

Time to get OUTA HERE!

Image

Fading away from some of the Southampton HAA range of fire,
I see two Sraffeln of escorts doing Target Patrol, getting FLAK from some HAA guns that are too far north to shoot at the bombers.

Hayzie,
is there a hot key to turn off the text?
Yes. That is the T key. (Aircraft Text ON / OFF).

When I test how the Campaign game works, as per the Artificial Intelligence aircraft,
it helps to know what the AI guys are doing, and what units they belong to.

We do not want any Artificial Intelligence aircraft behaving badly.
Unless maybe they have Poor (green trainees) Skill.
