Hopefully someone can help me.
I have done the following:
1. Downloaded 2.06 from A2A
2. Installed it into the default directory
3. It seems like it could not find the correct directx from microsoft and gave me an error about spamming in my browser?
4. Installed the 2.01 patch
5. Installed the Windows 10 patch from moddb
6. Copied over the 9 folders and allowed them to overwrite the files present
7. Set game to Windows XP Pack 2 AND 3.
8. Run bob.exe
After this, I see a white splash screen with a grey line about 1/3rd of the way up. Then the game goes away right to the desktop.
Any ideas?
BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
Hi TheLoaf, if you are using 2.06 version you will need also the 2.06 fix I uploaded here:
DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.mediafire.com/file/rt77uzf6 ... n.rar/file
Inside the file there is a Read Me file, read it carefully since you have to follow the exactly installation order
If you followed all steps check if you installed DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). At the end of BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH installation a window will open and ask you to Install it since it's needed for BOB2 works on Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10. The DirectX from 2.06 doesn't work but the one in BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH works
p.s: If your desktop resolution is not allowed for the game, enter inside your game folder and open in Notepad the file "bdg.txt" and change the line:
USE_DESKTOP_RESOLUTION=ON
To:
USE_DESKTOP_RESOLUTION=OFF
Save the file and test the game again

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
A question for Felizpe about the 2.06 fix. It's about the possibility of getting Multiskin to work with this.
Multiskin doesn't work with the Windows 10 Patch because it uses the 2.01 .exe and that .exe doesn't support Multiskin. So I understand.
However, there is now a fix that enables the Windows 10 Patch to be applied to a 2.06 install.
So the question is, would Multiskin work with this, since Multiskin works with 2.06?
If so, I don't know if the Multiskin (folder?) that comes with 2.13 could just be copied over to a 2.06-based version of this Win 10 Patched BoB2, would work, or if an earlier version of Multiskin would need to be found and installed.
Since Multiskin is such a great feature compared to aircraft sharing skins, it would be good if players using this Windows 10 Patch and 2.06 with the fix, could also use Multiskin.

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
I don’t have windows 10 and haven't looked at the patch but it would follow that the 2.06 .exe would work with a 2.06 configuration file which should include a line telling it to use the multi skin or not. So I can’t see what would stop this working provided there is a win 10 patch 2.06 fix and that version includes multi-skin capability. I think the only hitch might be that the win 10 patch version likely won't have multi skin usable aircraft .fx files present in it's COCKPM16 folder (i think these point to the relevant files in the multi skin folder), but they could be copied across from a later version or most readily from my aircraft lighting fx mod 2019.
Edit: looking at the pre multi-skin game folders it seems that all the fx files including non aircraft ones might be needed. Without going into detail as I haven't tried it, and there could be something i have missed, it might be best to copy over the COCKPM16 folder, the muti-skin folder and the bdg.txt file form a 2.13 install and then apply any patches or mods from there if by chance this works.

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
Hi 33lima3 and Boreas! Unfortunately the answer is no since the Multiskin code is inserted inside the game executable bob.exe and this patch uses the 2.01 executable. There is a .ccp file called "multiskin.ccp" inside the bob.exe from future patches that 2.01 doesn't have. .cpp files are the source code inserted inside the game executable, the main scripts of the game that search for the files in the game folders. It's really a limited situation...33lima3 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 19:33 A question for Felizpe about the 2.06 fix. It's about the possibility of getting Multiskin to work with this.

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
I finally got everything working and played for several hours.
A pretty huge bug I notice is that Stukas and bombers don't fire at you in the campaign. I've flown about ten different encounters with them in the RAF campaign, parked myself behind them and they never shoot.
Any idea how to fix this? Or is this how patch 2.01 always played?

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
Good going skril. In version 2.13 and hopefully in v2.01 there is a line in the bdg,txt file in the main game folder that will change this if you set it to ON:- Do_You_Want_The_JU87_To_DogFight=OFF # ON = After being fired on (and a evasive maneuver) the JU87 will dogfight OFF = No JU87 dogfighting after being fired on (and an evasive maneuver).
Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
Yeah I saw that in the documentation. Unfortunately that line doesn't exist in the 2.01 Windows 10 fixed version's bdg file.Boreas wrote: ↑27 Nov 2022, 21:11 Good going skril. Does anyone know if bombers and Stukas just wouldn't fire at all at attackers in the campaign in version 2.01? Or is there some condition that triggers that behavior?
Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
I do remember that Stuka and Me110 rear gunners would fail to shoot back on occasion in my game. I don’t know why it occurs . Other players have noted it too. Rebooting and Reloading the game corrected the problem each time for me. I don’t remember the exact version I was using when this happened. At the time, I did some testing but couldn’t reproduce it.
i remember Buddeye (BDG programmer) mentioning that Stukas were programed when attacked to do a evasive move then get back in formation. Normally the rear gunners will not fire beyond firing limits based on their gun type specification, they also will not fire if they cannot see the target, sun, and their skill rating is a factor, Stukas are the closest thing to a precision bomber for Luf campaign player . Thats all I know.

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
I just did a bit more testing.
If I hang behind about 14 Stuka in formation, I see one bullet fly out of the formation towards me every 5-8 seconds. So it seems they are shooting, but very rarely and they only fire a single shot.
Could this be that the crews are very low skill? This is happening right at the beginning of the campaign.
It is a bit weird though... even the greenest rear gunner would be opening up on a spitfire hanging in the air directly in front of them.

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
I don’t think anyone ever discovered the exact cause. Occasionally, it happens in the v2.13 campaign too . I have seen it most often while playing the early RAF canal campaign. During this time, the Luf (i.e AI) sends up large groups of stukas with equally large escort groups. Ive noticed some stuka not firing back, while others fire back normally. On the flip side, when I play the Luf canal campaign I don’t recall ever seeing the problem-I generally launch smaller groups.
The problem has been around a while heres a link to more discussion.

Yeah, I just restarted the canal campaign as RAF several times and the Stukas and bombers just rarely fire if at all. Good to know that this behavior most likely changes at later campaign dates.

It's so ominous that the last post in that thread was

Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
Even though the thread is a bit older, your dedication to adapting the files for Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 is truly appreciated by the community. It's great to see that you made changes to textures, sounds, plane models, and configurations to enhance the gaming experience. Your efforts in adding personal addons and providing a backup for the original planes from Patch 2.13 show your commitment to catering to different player preferences.
Re: BOB2 WINDOWS 10 PATCH (RELEASED)
hi to Felizpe, and many others
i am new on this exellent forum .... i have win 10,
My specs :
Processor 3,2 GHz : AMD Risen 7 / 2700 eight-core
RAM 16 Go
Windows 10 , 64 bits x64
Graphics card: Nvidia Ge Force GTX1060 6 GB
I read with a great interest the BoBII BDG v2.13 Release Notes and all the posts concerning compatibility with Windows 10 because I bought (again) a DVD of bob2 in version 2.0 and I wonder if I directly patch it to the final 2.13.7 or if I only use the felixpe pach ?
what would you propose ? Thank you for your insight...
I played this game (by Rowan) in the 2000s... then around 2016/2017 with a BoB2 that I have since lost... and I'm getting back into it because I think it was good implemented by many modders and programmers whom I congratulate for having resurrected it again because it was an excellent immersive game with great potential.
