Re: Mod Request
I found that there is actually a separate Luftwaffe engine start sound file (inflywhl.wav), it’s just that the sound itself is the same as the one used by the RAF planes (smotrstr.wav). So a modded inflywhl.wav file can be added (after safely backing up the original stock file) without affect...

Re: Mod Request
Without a code change the engine startup sounds are shared for all flyable aircraft but alternatives for RAF or Luftwaffe aircraft could be swapped relatively easily by installing the with JSGME. I'll have a go.

Re: Flying with a Spitfire video
Ok, I can see I might be on my own with this one guys but hopefully we can agree to differ on the finer details of the general interest . If anyone would care to post a link to the ubi forums I'll definitely check it out .

Re: Flying with a Spitfire video
Yup, there should be a sign like "No cake ingredients were used in the construction of this aircraft". Cake ingredients = Restraining Order. I once ate an entire Volkswagen Beatle by the way. Only kidding... it was a Skoda Fabia .

Re: Subscriber Modifications
Saved again! Maybe I'd better ease off on the booze or the engine oil or something. Nope, perisheth the thought. Fixed now anyway .

Re: Subscriber Modifications
Thanks I must have accidentally deleted it. The link should now work. All the latest updtaes are also in the Soundmods.zip download in my main post. I hope to get the high rev/low prop angle external engine sound (enrafexl.wav) working better in-game but hopefully this version is a step in the right...

Flying with a Spitfire video
Thought this short vid of a rather good looking newly restored early MKI might be of interest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh1S-C1r_mA Noticed this one too: 10 Spitfire Scramble - Goodwood 2011 http://www.youtube.com/user/ravenblack1973#p/u/2/0c1kVxQJBYw This ME109 series is well worth a look as ...

Re: Subscriber Modifications
Hi Shadowshooter I think the gear up animation sequence in the game is a bit short, probably so the sound can be used for both gear down and gear retraction. I had to cut the sound quite a lot to match it. I enhanced the whirring noises to make it less clunky but I might find a suitable hydraulic so...

Re: Subscriber Modifications - hydraulic gear sound
I like the stock gear sound but I found a recording of a spitfire gear mechanism test and had a go at making use of it in the game. To try this sound backup and replace the original wav file in the SampleHI folder. Any comments most welcome. http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/2/3/2305200/Gear.zip

Re: Alternative aircraft hit sounds
Thanks for the great feedback Shadowshooter! Yes I think the programmers have opted for 'efficiency' in this admittedly small area but left scope for improvement provided the occasional small inconsistencies I mentioned above can be lived with. The metal hit sounds are from a gatling gun fired at a ...

Alternative aircraft hit sounds
I’ve added some alternative metal and glass impact/hit sounds. They work best for machine gun fire and not so well for cannon fire hits on their own or for anti-aircraft fire hits. Occasionally, the duration of the hit sound might be noticeably longer than the burst of fire that caused it. An...

Civilian eyewitness Battle of Britain accounts
These brief accounts by Norman Wigg at the time a schoolboy in Lynsted a village in north Kent might be of interest. They convey the drama, excitement, heroism and tragedy. http://www.lynsted-society.co.uk/html/norman_wigg_-_recollections.html Lynsted’s location can be seen here on these 1940...

Re: Subscriber Modifications
Top quality professionally made sounds Shadowshooter. The F8 flybye and ArrowbyFireSizzle caught my ear. Extremely vivid. Both of the sounds you are using will add a bit more immersion and make excellent audio cues. Conversion to wav format at 22050hz and 16bit would be best with the limited audio m...

Re: Subscriber Modifications
Hi Spitfire76. I'm not aware of any better bullet hit sounds so far. From the forum and from my own experience these sounds aren‘t as realistic as other sounds in the library which are generally very good. I’m thinking that with the sound resources now available on-line I’ll have...
