Re: What am I doing wrong? (Painting question)
@Tako_Kichi Thanks for the tip with the plug in, but it didn't work for me. Everytime I tried to save the texture it would freeze Photoshop. Maybe it's not compatible with Windows 7? Or maybe it didn't like my Ati card, being a nvidia plug in? ;) That is very odd. The ATI card should not make any d...

Ah well you can always check in for a refresher course Buddye.
The idea is that by asking questions about RW flying sim pilots can become better sim pilots.

Re: Military Version Paint (Work in Progress)
There is nothing that I could do about the engine, though. Its textures aren't part of the paint kit and I don't think that I'm allowed to uses them and include them in a repaint. Paint kits usually contain only the main fuselage and wing textures and sometimes the interior however there is nothing...

Re: Military Version Paint (Work in Progress)
I woudn't make that white on the stripes and stars so white... Whites and blacks are never 100% in real life. I agree with Rob on this one plus MSFS (both FS9 and FSX) has a known problem where it 'bleaches out' the whites and makes the black too dark. I use RGB values of 245, 245, 245 for white an...

A2A Flight Academy
Just a heads up for the BoBII pilots, A2A (our forum hosts) have started a 'Flight Academy' where any and all flight related questions can be asked and hopefully answered by the very knowledgeable real world pilots who frequent the various boards. Feel free to pop in at any time and if you are a rea...

Re: What am I doing wrong? (Painting question)
Please excuse my ignorance. But how does CS3 fit into the picture? And what happens if I don't have CS3? The nVidia plug-in is a tool for use with Photoshop CS3 (and earlier versions of Photoshop too). The original poster mentioned he was using CS3 as his paint program and so I offered the informat...

Re: What am I doing wrong? (Painting question)
If you are using CS3 the easiest way to save to DDS format is to use the nVidia DDS plug-in for it available from here.... http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html When you have it installed to the correct CS3 folder proceed as follows: 1. When you have finished all your paintin...

A2A Piper J-3 Cub Repaint Repository + Paintkit
This sticky thread is intended to be a growing repository for information on available repaints for the A2A Piper J-3 Cub. This should hopefully make it easier to find information on what repaints are available and where they are located. Cub painters can simply add to this thread as they complete r...

I just cast my very critical eye over the paint kit beta build and my verdict was that it is good to go so hopefully it will be out very shortly barring any last minute changes. Hang in there guys it is coming.

Re: GPS?
Wouldn't it be possible to reference the GPS 296 instead of the 500? Seems like that'd be a little more Cub-like... All you have to do is replace this line in the data above: gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0 With this line: gauge00=fs9gps!gps_295, 0,0 That will then give you the hand-held GPS unit inste...

Re: FYI - paint kit out shortly
I know it's actually a Cub special. But the paints looks wonderful and would suit the J-3 well me thinks. There's also a really nice "true" J-3 down under, the VH-DIT -> http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/8/1/6/0808618.jpg Although, looking as the photo it seems the cabin...

It was a long stand from the stores, that I was sent for. LOL...when I was but a wee spotty engineering apprentice many, many, years ago I was sent to get a 'long weight (wait)' from the stores. I went up to the storeman and asked for a long weight and he said he'd go get me one. 45 minutes later h...
