Awesome stuff, great idea.sambt wrote:I just clicked in to the forum and the first thing that I saw was that leggy chick sitting on the Shockwave logo. I thought I had out-grown this stuff. Man she looks as good as a P-38. Whoever thought this up, as we say in the South, bless his heart.

I'm flying the Diamond. I got to do a good walk around today, looks like she's a blast to fly. The rest of the time was spend in the flight shop going over performace information, and filling out all the papers proving that I'm not a terrorist. So, hopefully next week, I'll get to take her fo...

Having flown both the 172 in many iterations as well as a couple of DA40s I can tell you that the easy answer is, it doesn't matter. Either plane will teach you to fly. The C172 is much more of a truck and the control forces are a lot higher than in the Diamond, either the DA40 or the DA20. But the ...

The original observation is correct...it is standard convention for the top of the trim wheel to roll toward the nose of the plane when applying nose down trim. Roll it forward, the nose goes down, and vice versa. NH and TH as mentioned are really British conventions and do mean nose-heavy (same as ...

Nice one Rick I just tried repacking the .cab's and your right, it loads a lot faster. Now what were those other tweaks you did before repacking ? The way the .cab file is compressed makes all the difference. Depending on the version you have, SP1/SP2/Acceleration, doing a repack with the MS tool i...

Re: smoke config on B17 wrong ??
The smoke configuration on the B17 for FSX is wrong,when turning on the smoke trail goes from up to down instead of left to right (horizontal) [smokesystem] smoke.0 = -0.12, 7.26, 10.33, fx_WOP2_b17_propsmoke.fx smoke.1 = 0.89, 5.86, 21.55, fx_WOP2_b17_propsmoke.fx smoke.2 = -0.12, 7.51, -10.07, fx...

Re: Alphasim F-86
Has anyome seen there new release? Looks good. However there talking about needing FSX accelration, and vista to get all the features. And that does not sound good... My understanding is that some features work on the FS9 version and others on the FSX version. I don't think Acceleration is required...

I recently did some flights with Emil. Something that still doesn`t work is the tail-wheel-steering. The only way to turn the aircraft is to use differential braking, but shouldn`t make easy rudder-steering it either? The other thing is the lack of substantial rudder authoritiy. The only other warb...

Thanks! Of course, now I wonder what RealAir intended with her Spit. Their Spit flies faster rolls only with the rudder than with ailerons... Nevermind, the Spit and the Me from Shockwave are some of the best investions for FS as I still fly them very often even after months (and I own about 70 gb ...

OK, I'm back and can answer this for you. Also see my response to your trim question about the Spitfire... Planes like the Bf 109 and P-51 have very little rudder authority and cannot maintain a forward slip. This is a known trait and it's not a flaw. These are not bush planes and were never intende...

You say you don`t need full trim? Then you have to pull the stick back during the approach. I always trim so that the plane flies the approach downwards on its own. Nevertheless, I don`t think that in the real thing you would need the whole trim range just to keep the plane leveled between 90 - 100...

The CFS3 P-51 is excellent! It is the CFS Mustang that you always wanted to have. She looks and flies excellent, although I only did a few circuits so far. But, Scott, if you are reading this: the brakes do not work. And there is neither a steerable tailwheel not the possibility to lock the tailwhe...
