It's not you making a mistake, I too have had an issue trying to generate a flight plan with 3 letter ICAO's.

You're right Scott and the last thing I want to do is waste yours or anyone else's time. Whenever you're feeling adventurous you could try this MOD. Did this about a year ago and like it a lot. Made a huge difference with the detent, basically it's no longer noticeable.
