Re: Sunday, December 19 - Hokkaido and the Kuril Islands

I just flew this in my P-51 Civ, Took about 2 hours. Initially I had selected Real weather as I see no point in 'historical' weather settings unless there is an actual weather event you wish to re-produce. And then one needs to dictate the exact parameters to invoke that setting, otherwise there is ...

Re: Sunday, November 28 - Central Poland (and a bit of Slovakia)

You are missing the most scenic area of the High Tatry mountains which lie along the border to the east of Namestovo, which is on the western end of the lake, then following the border eastward to Zakopane and then drop down to Poprad. I would then fly west to Zilina via Liptovsky Mikulas and Ruzomb...

Re: Sunday 21-November-21 B-17 patrol over Australia

Skyvector shows an ETE of 2hrs 48 Min at a speed of 110 mph(kts ?) This, is not even close to what the actual mission time will be. The B-17 stall speed is around 100 mph and I can't see flying the mission at 110 mph, slightly faster tan a J-3 Cub! I suggest that we add YELD as the final destination...

Re: Sunday 3rd October Cubs in New Zealand

I had elevation issues at all of the fields. I had to go into the Scenery\World\scenery directory and enable the elevation adjustment files for each airport. Changed the .OFF extension to .BGL. You are correct, it was Ian that posted the lnmpln file, which was quite different from the SkyVector data...

Re: Friday 1st October - Express d'Orient - Leg Four

LTFM 'new Istanbul Airport' not found in Little Navmap. I terminated my route at LTBA for the time being. I suspect that that airport may not have existed back in the time frame of the original Orient Express run.

Now to rename 77 waypoints designated by Lat/Lon.

Re: Friday September 24th - Express d'Orient - Leg Three

There seems to be a big discrepancy between FSX and P3DV5 when it comes to daylight. When I flew this yesterday with a T.O. time of 1615 by 1745 it was dusk. At that point I reset my local time back 1 hour and when I landed I was completely in the dark. The only things visible were the runway and ta...

Re: Friday September 24th - Express d'Orient - Leg Three

A 1600 local takeoff will put you at the destination in total darkness. You might want to move the takeoff time to 1400 or 1430 at the latest.

Re: A2A Flight for Sunday September 19th

Paughco,

Thanks for posting the missing way point data. Should help the others to 'adjust' as well.

I'm going to fly this later today (Saturday) to check the route on my FSX installation.

I am about to UPLOAD a new plan and map. Starting at Stead and going to Nellis then a swing to the west and through death Valley. Will mark it with the UTC of my new uploads, same name as original but an 'A' appended to the download files.. http://pstrogen.digitalspacemail8.net/temp/A2A_Sun_9_19A.zi...

A2A Flight for Sunday September 19th

I just threw together a plan for a flight from Reno to Nellis, following the state line for a bit then going into Nevada to visit Tonopah, Tonopah Test Range, Area 51 and on to Nellis AFB. I have now edited the original to add a run from Neliis through Death Valley to Bishop. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE 01...

Re: Engine fire at startup

I had a runaway turbo at startup recently. No fire. As a matter of fact, with over 2,000 hours on my engines I have never had an engine fire. That said, there is a great deal of code defining Engine Fires. There is a random number involved is some sections of the code and CHT involved in other secti...

Re: This part in the checklist makes no sense to me

Yes, the runaway turbo would be cause for an aborted takeoff. Or in flight, the shut down and feathering of the engine experiencing the runaway turbo. I don't recall exactly what the indications were the last time I experienced a runaway turbo. Either the MP or RPM for that engine went to maximum, o...
