Re: help a pleb like me with sparkplugs
You need to keep your revs above about 1100, 1200 at ALL times to keep the sparkplugs clean. You can try to lean the mixture to get them clean but the best option is to run at a very high power setting for a minute. Darryl Cheers Cody, beat me to it. 800 will keep the plugs cleaninsh but causes a co...

Re: Flying tips and advice available if needed
In the Mk I, the 4 lb./ sq. in. Boost gauge progresses past the "+4" proportionally up to the limit, you can therefore "eyeball" the gauge. When the Boost cutout override switch (red thumb lever) is thrown in the Mk I you will go to 12lb...it is not proportional..it actually clos...

Re: WOP3 Spitfire installation error
Klem, I have a system similar to yours (but an i920) and have no problems. (but had a couple during Beta) Uninstall from windows programs and features manager ..first accusim, then WOP3 Spit. THEN manually delete the A2A Spitfire files in "Documents" Try installing again but after installi...

Re: night lighting going out
My guess is that your Accumulator (battery) is not holding a charge. Also, for both Mks, get your generator on early and leave it on. It doesn't take much to drain the system...Landing Lamps are a huge drain. Try the Mk I and see if the problem is persistent. Oskar gave wonderful advice on the Elect...

Nice to see those again!
Yes, the Gas Patch was contemplated but time was against...
They were in fact used throughout the war but after the Battle of Britain, camoflage shades came out and the yellow diamond with red outline went in favour of the cam paint.

a class E plain whiskey compass instead of that P8, if for no other reason than to reset the DG on cross countries. Dudley Henriques Oh come on Dudley...what could be nicer than taking a few minutes out of a busy flight to peer around the control column and get a paralax corrected reading off a bob...

Re: A Big THANKS to our beta team!
Scott, You are very, very welcome. 30 years of Spitfire research just meant that on this one, I could be of help. I came to this project knowing that I was going to have to deal with "compromises" and that pretty soon "that pedant can't want another change, surely" was what was g...

Get airborne ASAP, and keep the radiator FULL OPEN for all ground ops, and prior to landing. Just a small point SOP is NOT to open the radiator before landing unless you REALLY need to. It messes with the low speed handling characteristics terribly and the extra airlflow is not great due to flaps a...

Jeff,
Glad you are enjoying it. She is quite hard to fly "well". Easy on the throttle settings, keep her as cool as possible and constantly monitor the temps and pressures!
You'll get thye hang of her soon enough. ...or run out of money***G***
