Re: Use all tanks on Mustang

I asked myself, "If the plane is an equipped with an engine-driven fuel pump, could that pump be used to draw all tanks simultaneously?" (This was assuming, of course, that the fuel selector switch isn't a valve but only a booster pump control). The answer comes from the F-51D training man...

Re: Use all tanks on Mustang

I believe this was not historically possible in the P-51D. I reviewed several historic P-51 manuals including the P-51D/K and later F-51 pilot training manuals for a definitive answer. While I haven't ascertained for certain whether the rotating fuel selector switch completely shuts off fuel flow fr...

Re: how to stop the wop2 b17 from lagging

I looked up your vid card and it says it is the type that is integrated into notebook motherboards. Usually these kinds of GPUs are adequate for general gaming but hardly what you'd consider 'high end' or optimal for an intensive application like FSX. If you are playing on a notebook your RAM might ...

Re: how to stop the wop2 b17 from lagging

I once read in Computer Pilot or PC Pilot magazine that with FS9 it is best to set your target frame rates to maximum instead of choosing a defined frames rate. It may seem like a strange thing to do when you're trying to optimize overall graphics but it did seem to actually cause an improvement. I ...

Re: 2D Panel View Problem

I know FSX has 2D popups. Thankfully they are still available with the B-17. But as you said, developers are increasingly making them a rarity. I just reinstalled FSX the other night; I just bought a new computer that can actually handle it. Let me weigh in after I've flown the updated P-47. In the ...

Re: 2D Panel View Problem

I like 3D cockpits too but with some procedures I find it easier to use the 2D panels.

Re: VISTA vs. XP...FSX

Vista is good and I believe it is necessary if you want to use the new DX10 features. I'd put no less than 2gb of RAM in the system you're building if you go with Vista; the more the better though because Vista runs a lot of background programs and is a resource hog. XP isn't quite as resource inten...

Re: Solo P51-D

And of course you should be sure you have the right installer. There is a Solo P-51D for each version of FS.

Re: Solo P51-D

This isn't an official response, so don't take it as such... (That should be my new signature. ;) ) The Solo P-51D was one of the very first 'third-party' aircraft models available for FSX and it was originally released on the "WWII Fighters: Special Edition" CD-ROM, a multipack of five pl...

Curious about historical tail wheel

My question is: did the Air Force convert F-51Ds in the post-war years to have fixed, nonretracting tail wheels? If so, what was the reason? I was reading through the F-51 Pilot's Handbook T.O. 1F-51D-1, Pilot Handbook, USAF Series F-51D Aircraft , dated January 20, 1954, and I was struck by this de...

Re: Cat lovers

The cockpit detail is very impressive. Do you think A2A might consider making an AccuSim packs for the competition? ;)

If you mean for FS9, take a look at this thread (about halfway down). I don't know if there is a similar utility for FSX though.

Re: Boeing 377 Stratocruiser World Tour

The Warcraft spams are usually gibberish surrounding hyperlinks, and I've yet to see any of the 'contributors' post anything about FS, A2A products or aircraft in general. I think it would be safe to ban these posters outright and without warning.

This is the best vintage photograph I could find of a 'Razorback' P-47D panel.
