Re: Be aware before you upgrade to windows 10

... If those 30 days are over, your former Windows 7 key will be permanently transformed to a Windows 10 key and it will no longer be valid as a Windows 7 key. Thanks for the clarification AnkH. In that case I'll definitely be in no mad rush to go down the 'free upgrade' route. Will keep an eye on ...

Re: Strange aircraft over Germany :D

A B-17 does sound a bit unlikely Marc; the other chaps' suggestion of an AN-12 would certainly fit the description of the "bubble" behind the elevators if not the very slender fuselage. If you've got a rough idea of the time of the sighting it should be possible to 'replay' that period on ...

Re: Be aware before you upgrade to windows 10

If true, this silent peer-to-peer sharing of updates via the internet does sound like a real PR own goal. Whilst I guess the aim is to make Microsoft less dependent on their own server infrastructure, WUDO sounds rather unwelcome, especially for those who don't have uncapped bandwidth as part of the...

Re: NA Journey [Fly Safe!]

Real sweaty palm stuff by the looks of it! :P A couple of recent topics make me wonder if you encountered any carb icing in amongst all that scuddy stuff Esa? From what I can see of the screenshots, the selector's in the 'cold' position so presumably not. Anyway, your narrative gives me an idea for ...

Re: Piper Comanche landing gear unsafe light

Since FSX always spawns even in the air with landing gear down, would it be possible to make this the default position? Well, that's not quite true. If for some reason one chooses to load the Comanche from a flight which uses another retractable gear type (such as the default Baron) with its gear u...

Re: IF I buya plane, which one would I buy?

I still come back to the Cherokee frequently. It has some intangible charm to it that I can't quite explain. It has one of the best Virtual Cockpits in all of Flight Sim IMHO. I'm with TJ on this one. The Cherokee really does have that special something! :) Part of the appeal for me at least is tha...

Spacejunkee - I like the look of this one and will definitely download it when I get back home. Thank you! :D Niiice the orange tanks give it a SAR look to my eyes, am I crazy? Er, no comment Lewis! This is one N-reg that you can legitimately fly in the UK though. As mentioned here , it fl...

Re: Piper Commanche Carb Icing and Leaving Carb Heat ON

Esa, your post gives me the perfect excuse to reproduce a passage from what's probably my favourite chapter of Fate is the Hunter . In it, Ernest Gann describes a similar "pulling the trigger on any justified action" by his experienced Captain. They're above the Appalachian Mountains in a ...

Re: How to operate the auto pilot

Ivan, Perhaps I should have mentioned that the video was produced using the Piper Cherokee, not the Comanche. Although the operation of the actual autopilot is identical in both, the location of some of the 'repeater' buttons differs slightly. The Comanche for instance doesn't have an 'AP Mode' repe...

Re: Reinstall PRepar3d...saving C182 hours on airframe

Hello, To transfer the state and airframe/engine hours (+ any custom key/axis assignments) from you existing C182, just make a copy of the contents of the "...A2A\FSX\Cessna182" directory in your 'My Documents' folder. (I'm not sure if the installer creates a "P3D" folder instead...

Re: Elevator trim effectiveness

Another suggestion for anyone using buttons/keyboard to control trim would be to use the A2A 'C182 input configurator' available from the Windows Start Menu. The functions for 'yoke trim up' and 'yoke trim down' mimic the manual electric trim. The response is linear so there's none of that default F...
