Re: How well should the latest version be running on my PC?
Agreed, combat should be shorter at least among the fighters. Bombers should be longer engagements than between fighters, with RAF pilots haring off after damaged bombers (chasing kills) rather than flying solo against healthy bombers.

Re: How well should the latest version be running on my PC?
I categorize the 3d AI into two parts. Maneuver AI is fine and while it would be nice to see historical avoidance maneuvering by AC type, it is quite good. My main bone of contention is the 3d combat "efficiency." Too many bullets have a chance to and do hit. I haven't delved into the code...

Re: How well should the latest version be running on my PC?
Irony, irony. The older RAF pilots actually had more trouble with landings although some of the newer ones were bitten by the same bug - forgetting to lower the landing gear. Most of the RAF pilots trained on aircraft with a fixed carriage. In the movie Battle of Britain early on you see a brief vig...

Re: How well should the latest version be running on my PC?
When considering loss rates, history is guide. How many raids resulted in 100% losses for a squadron or Gruppe. None. How many raids resulted in catastrophic losses (50% or greater). Darn few. The Defiants come to mind. Raids resulting in more than 25% losses for a given unit still rare. At the loss...

Re: How well should the latest version be running on my PC?
The bombers should be durable. They were hard to kill with the RAF aircraft flying at that time. However, the lethality of 3d combat is wrong. A couple months back I had a former B-52 pilot over and he asked about the game. I ran one of my testing missions and he was in awe. Seeing a hundred aircraf...

Re: We need to get the game running under Win8...
I checked this on my Win 7 system and it is there in msconfig. Perhaps it is still there for Win 8.

Re: We need to get the game running under Win8...
I am thinking the issue relates to Windows sharing the graphics load with the processor(s). Does this look like it might work?

Heinkill,
Could the Win 8 issue be related to multi-core processors? Maybe Win 8 gets confused. Could there be a way to use a command line switch to force the use of a single processor.

Hi Boreas, Enjoying the greener "richer" colors. Much better than the pale washed out colors used before. An observation/question remains, where are the fallow fields? Strange that flying over Summer-time Britain, that there are all those greens and no dark, rich browns for unplanted fields.

Re: Poor hurri squadrons.........
In a commander campaign, Directives can be modified at the beginning of each game phase (3x per day). During a single pilot campaign, the directives are unavailable.

Interesting report. I hadn't seen anything that extreme. Will keep my eyes open while I working the RAF code.

Re: Poor hurri squadrons.........
Excellent question. While I've been getting little time to work on the campaign, I am currently looking into the RAF AI and ground target damage. In order to be historical, the Spitfires should fly about twice as often as the Hurricanes. For now, I recommend moving the Spitfires onto fields with ran...

Re: beta Testing fixed LW Escort Rendezvous
OK, thanks for the clarification. Now a question. What exactly do you mean by damage? Exactly. I have to get into the mainwld, understand it, find the interface to the code, understand it, then all the code and data flows. Damage and repair calculation, application, modification. Which is more accu...

Re: beta Testing fixed LW Escort Rendezvous
two27 told me that a Spitfire or Hurricane Assembly factory must be better than 70% destroyed to stop it's production of aircraft. I think that this means that 70% or better of the individual targets within a Target, must be Destroyed . The Damaged or only Impaired, individual targets may be repair...
