Re: Learning to fly the Connie
FlapMan, first I want to deal with the same flight plan I do have Take-off from LTBQ. I know is a bit longer time. It is okay. I began the approach, switched VOR2 to VOR1 and immediately descending up to 1,425 ft following the Localizer but I never saw DME 3.9nm it was 0.4nm I can think of two reas...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie
===> I was at 5,000 over BKZ beacon and turned to heading 052 for one minute. Good, you did this correct. Then, turned to the left and started descending so at BKZ back again I was at 4,000 and lost. Should have turned to right not left, otherwise correct. ===> Way before reaching BKZ I heard an al...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie
Look's like a decent attempt. You did a good job finding BKZ the first time. Were you at 4,000 here? You also did a good job of knowing when you were over BKZ, and starting the correct turn to HDG 052. You did not turn too early or too late. After HDG 052 you should have made a turn to the right, no...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie
I am ready for your new flight plan for LTBA Okay, lets try it. This is the LOC-Y 23 LTBA. First some explanation and context. Ignore the G/S needle. It will swing on the display on this approach. Ignore it. Pretend it is broken. Pretend that last week a Greek DC-3 struck the antenna and bent it. W...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie
Hi Flapman. Happy New Year 2021. Thank you! I am trying to fly near to 1000 ft ALT to intercept Glideslope and looking at PAPI lights. You had error of 500ft on this goal. 50% This is all I think I need to know because I don't see how to follow g/s 3.2 I guess g/s 3.2 means -320 feet from Vertical ...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie
Hi Pat, hope all is well! I wonder how to handle G/S 3.2 degrees? I want to learn/refresh .....etc. Patricio It is the same pilot error you make in EHAM ILS 36R. You are much better now you follow localizer beam. You can find runway no problem now.. even with other errors. Isn't that nice? Remember ...

Re: Lack of peristence
once again its not very clear. Ookay...I try again. I dont seem to be getting that. If you have same fluid levels on the next simulator session then you most likely are getting that. Another good way to tell is to check the hours in the maintenance hangar. Your airplane and engines accumulate hours...

Re: Lack of peristence
Here is the relevant statement from the manual: PERSISTENT AIRCRAFT Every time you load up your L-049 Constellation, you will be flying the continuation of the last aircraft which includes fuel and oil, along with all of your system conditions. So be aware, no longer will your aircraft load with ful...

Re: Making the FE do stuff
Hi G, congrats on buying the Connie. She can be a handful but she's fun to fly! A lot of your questions will be obvious as you get experience, but here's a reply to help. Does this mean that to make the FE start the engines you just turn the master ignition on then hit ctr-E (or 4 variations of it t...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie
Pat I think you did an excellent job flying the Connie here. You used both DRMI and VOR needle to find Tenerife. That was very good progress on those skills. Your landing of course needs work but that will come with time.
I think it went much better than even 747 flight, don't you think?

distance between them is 0.5nm, for the type of flying you're doing that's basically the same location

CRJ-200 CJR-700/900 EMB-135/140/145 ERJ-170/190 All use an automatic brake application to stop rotation of MLG during the retraction sequence. None, by design, retract rotating main wheels into the aircraft. All have scrubbers for NLG tires. If that helps... ... I'm actually surprised the T-38 didn'...

Re: Cabin Heat
So did A2A code this as a "land immediately" type of emergency? Or, can I try to continue if I can descend into warm enough air to regulate the cabin temp?
