Oh bu66er! It's a spirally wrap! PITfA
Oh well, I don't have that much to undo at all.

I must be a masochist!
Doing these kind of patterns that have to be wrapped is worse than doing jigsaw puzzles of a herd of Zebra. But one question couldn't be answered by my internet searches: does anyone know whether the pattern is reflected along the middle lines or is the pattern a full "spiral" wrap? If it ...

Re: Need Advice For Repaint
Yes, wrapping straight lines around lower fuselages is one of the trickiest excercises for repainters. One of my most frequent requests at model developers has always been for them to draw a series of lines directly on their mdl (i.e. around the curves). This can be done on 3D models with most 3D pr...

Re: Request: a GERMAN Comanche
Hello dear repainters, there seems not too much german Comanches out there. ..... Many, many, thanks!!! How about this one then? It's on the A2A Piper 180 Cherokee The real world livery existed on a Piper Archer (it's been repainted since) Sorry it's not on a Comanche - I haven't decided whether or...

Re: Problem with repaint - black textures
Thanks CBris, that's really helpful. I have been doing the skinning at work in my lunchbreaks, I ported the textures home and loaded them on my 'proper' FSX PC and the aircraft is the right shape - just black. I think the tutorial showed saving out of DXTbmp as DXT1, so I will try an alternative fo...

Re: Problem with repaint - black textures
Several possibilities and all of them to do with the repaint... sorry. One likely cause - check the image dimensions in your art program, in the exported bitmap and in the DDS version (open the latter in DXTbmp). If the image is not exactly 19024, 2048 or 4096 pixels square, then FSX will not recogn...

Re: DXT5 vs 8.8.8.8 32bpp
Just as an afterthought; here's a composite single image. The DXT5 version is the mirrored part on the left half, while the right half shows 8888 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/2015%20FSX/comparison.jpg You can go direct to my photobucket page here: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276...

Re: DXT5 vs 8.8.8.8 32bpp
So a finely tuned PC can possibly give better visuals on dxt5 than 32 bit dds No matter what the pc specs are... 32 bit is 32 and dxt5 is dxt5 no matter how you look at it or how close you are to a model. If you set the viewing distances for both models (one looking at dxt5 and the other looking at...

Re: Eagleskinner is back - new W-i-P
"Dirty Gertie" is giving me ideas. A few tasters to show the directions my ideas are wandering... She needs to be dirtier. That last Elk transport left too many bodily fluids to drain out through the bottom of the fuselage...  http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/2015%...

@855 I did that Midnight Miss (and the rest of the Buehn Air Force) quite a few years ago and used photos sent to me by the owners/operators Dennis and Tami Buehn. Our first contacts, according to my mail folders, were in 2008, so I guess my skins are of an older verion, yes. ...and a quick quote fo...

A couple more - closer to being finished. Metallic black with teo-tone blue flipflop over a white mother-of-pearl with golden chroma flipflop... I wonder how much a full aircraft repaint would cost for metallic Du-Pont chromalusion? Not something for the faint-walletted I guess. http://i7.photobucke...

On approach - "Ebony and Ivory". Fictional livery and personalised helmet design inspired by (very) early morning sleeplessness and listening to my radio... (a couple of corrections and additions yet - and this is fictional/private) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/2015%20FSX/Ea...

Re: General repaint question regarding layers.
Sorry, my bad. I should have said that I notice this happening before I even do anything with a paintkit. I.e. When I open a PSD for the very first time in Corel. Sometimes "their" layers are all aligned and sized, sometimes not. Once I start, I make sure each layer gets noted and describe...

Re: General repaint question regarding layers.
No, it's not just an A2A paintkit thing - many multilayered PSD graphics open up with shifts and parts outside the "frame" (visible or not) and each layer is only as large as the drawing on it. This is experienced gaind over 13-14 years and hundreds of paints. Some PSDs have uniformly size...
