Re: My Icing Encounter
Problem I have with the current icing simulation in FSX/P3D is that the effects of ice magically evaporate as soon as you leave conditions where it would accumulate. Flying through freezing rain will get you in trouble very quickly, but as soon as you're in the clear, even if air temps are still bel...

Re: Simulation rate
I've tried even 2x or 4x rates and the tach time and fuel burn didn't seem to change. So as long as those flights can sometimes be, I keep it at 1x.

Re: First Bonanza Gauge Failure
My fuel flow gauge went down the toilet very early on. After less than 50 hours it was reading probably 2-3GPH low compared to book figures. Finally decided to replace it because that is a bit too much for comfort.

Tip tanks don't dump when mains are full
I recall Scott and others describing that you should leave the tip tank transfer pumps off until the mains are partially depleted, because trying to transfer fuel into the mains will dump fuel overboard if they are full. It was said that this behavior is modeled. However, I just did the majority of ...

Re: Personal Minimums in Flight Sim
Not in the sim. A lot of the fun of the sim for me is having to work my way out of sticky situations... the first part of that equation necessitates getting INTO trouble first, by generally abusing the plane and not especially caring what the weather looks like. I don't have the visuals and scenery ...

Re: What my daughter hears when I'm talking on the phone....
My sister doesn't especially care about planes... but she always asks how long before she can start collecting family travel benefits from the local airline if/when they hire me.

Re: Slow Flight and "Soaring"
Believe it or not, this sort of thing does exist. Some of the CFI's at my school have described instances where they were trying to teach short field landings in the summer and have hit major thermals on short final - power idle, flaps 40, nose down, and not descending at all. Conversely, the east h...

Re: Maintenance wishes
When you "Inspect Aircraft", the mechanic will run a compression test on the cylinders and reveal any faulty items. Clicking on the engine or the cockpit will let you see the results and any faulty/worn engine parts or instruments. You can then choose to replace components, cylinders, or i...

Also make sure you've got the latest update installed. I've noticed the Bo is much less squirly after rotation now that the stall physics have been repaired.

Re: Tip tanks
Before the Comanche, I didn't think I liked tip tanks because they clashed with my preconception: aircraft aesthetics dictate that the machine always needs to taper towards its extremities. But since the Comanche, they've grown on me to the point that the PA-24 looks positively naked without them. A...

Re: Attitude indicator failure
I recently had my attitude indicator get stuck with its straight and level point actually being a 10 degree bank. Only way I found to fix it was to restore an old persistence file.

Re: Inspection Help
In previous Accusim aircraft, entering the maintenance hangar would automatically tip you off to anything and everything wrong with the airplane. Since you also need to go into the hangar to do routine tasks like changing oil or customizing equipment options, having the status of the aircraft hidden...

Re: V 18.9.20 increase gross weight by 100 lbs for IO-550 en
I think this change may be referring to an increase in max certified takeoff weight. Try seeing how heavy you can load the plane in the W&B manager before the gross weight turns red with both engine options.

Re: Response time from the propeller governor
Personally I was taught to wait until power reduction abeam the numbers to put the prop full forward, in order to prevent just the surging you describe. Got a few dozen hours in a Piper Arrow and it is very difficult to prevent a momentary prop overspeed during large power changes (such as go-around...

Re: Passengers React To Cockpit Temperature
Well, the obvious solution would be to simply not load passengers into your A2A aircraft.Paughco wrote:No need for somebody complaining into my headphones. If A2A adds that "feature" I hope they have a way of turning it off.
